In all seriousness I think this represents both a disturbing society-level inability to process basic facts that involve numbers, a lurch toward degrowth on the left and right, and a failure of mainstream journalism to go beyond just nodding along to the "concerns" of everyday people without checking to see if they're the result of a game of telephone that leads back to nothing

The rate of improvement from original GPT to GPT-3 is impressive. If this rate of improvement continues, GPT-5 or 6 could be indistinguishable from the smartest humans. Just my opinion, not an endorsement. I left OpenAI 2 to 3 years ago. Am a neutral outsider at this point.
"American companies such as Modal" 🥲
"American companies such as Modal, Fireworks, and Baseten will be able to serve Kimi K3, at one-tenth the cost of their Chinese competitors because they have access to advanced Nvidia and AMD chips.
There is some irony here. Much of the model’s research and development has shifted to China, but once the model is optimized for next-generation hardware such as Nvidia’s Rubin architecture, its operating cost could fall by 10 to 100 times."

Public capital markets are incredibly useful for resource allocation, but I'm wondering how much value having extremely good price signal on Norway vs. England really is for global utility.
Working at Meta I learned that they're not great at vision, design, or strategy.
But they are a beast at execution.

I am worried about the future in Europe right now. There are no foundation AI labs here. There are no GPU fabs here (despite having ASML) and no plans to build or upgrade any foundry with sub 7nm capabilities (despite EU CHIPS act). There is no energy policy for the power AI data centers need. There are pockets of excellence but the strategic foundations are totally missing. Doing any work at the technological frontier of tech from manufacturing to robotics to AI is dependent on Asia and the USA (try making an autonomous robot without chips and GPUs from Asia or training one without AI models and compute from USA). Why is Europe so out of the loop (building 12-28nm fabs in Dresden, WTF are we gonna do with these?)? How do we get on track?

AI security issues must be taken seriously, but an arbitrary measure like this will put in question reliance on 🇺🇸 LLM’s and cause numerous actors to look more closely at 🇨🇳 open source solutions. anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…
The solution started at an internal hackathon.
@Quaxi_ built a simple app in Lovable that pulled data from siloed platforms via API and presented it in one view.
A few prompts later: A/B tests, metrics dashboards, funnels, a semantic data layer, and a data catalog.

This is one example of why European tech startups are competing handcuffed vs US startups.
Here’s Lovable, one of the few massively successful startups employing a bunch of people in the EU, growing fast.
A Swedish entrepreneur attempts to take them down w EU VAT concerns. 😡
If you want to sell a service such as @Lovable globally and want to jump over VAT/tax everywhere is that OK and fair? Togheter with the journalist @emilhellerud we tracked Lovable receipts and found zero tax compliance(EU). Broadcasted on TV4.
