The Quantum Biology Institute is now on YouTube! QBI has uploaded the first three classes from Quantum Unbound, its free educational course exploring the foundations and emerging questions of quantum biology.
The first set of classes covers:
1. The Basics of Quantum Biology with Dr. Alessandro Lodesani, introducing radical pairs, spin, and living systems.
2. Quantum Biology in Proteins with Dr. Brian L. Ross, exploring where radical pair chemistry may occur within proteins.
3. Quantum Biology Across Life with Dr. Michael Montague, looking at how omics and evolutionary analysis can help identify proteins and organisms relevant to the field.
All three classes are now available to watch on @QuantumBioOrg's YouTube channel, with more educational content to come.

Could Mars colonization fail because we overlooked magnetic fields?
Radiation and microgravity dominate conversations about human health in space. Quantum engineer Clarice Aiello believes another biological variable deserves far more attention.
Life on Earth evolved within our planet’s magnetic environment. Across bacteria, animals, and human cells, weak magnetic fields have been associated with changes in cell division, energy production, DNA repair, ion channels, inflammation, and regeneration.
Clarice argues that organisms living on the Moon or Mars may respond differently to environments with dramatically weaker magnetic fields. Some health effects currently attributed to microgravity could even involve this missing variable.
Watch the full conversation with Clarice Aiello of the Quantum Biology Institute as we explore quantum sensing, electromagnetic medicine, nature-made quantum technology, and whether biology has been exploiting quantum physics for billions of years.

We’re excited to announce the launch of the new QBI-DAO Slack channel.
Run by the Quantum Biology Institute, this shared space is designed to keep the DAO community informed about what’s happening at QBI - including reports, publications, events, financial updates, and more.
As the primary grantee of the Quantum Biology DAO, @QuantumBioOrg is committed to building in public and keeping the science as open and transparent as possible. This Slack channel will serve as a central hub for ongoing Institute updates and communication.

The Quantum Biology Ecosystem continues to grow!
We're pleased to introduce Dr. Venkatesh Sridharan, the new Head of Redox Biology at the @QuantumBioOrg.
His work will explore how quantum mechanics may shape biological reactions at the molecular level, focusing on redox processes central to metabolism and cellular function.
Dr. Sridharan began his academic journey in India with a background in food technology before transitioning into biology during his PhD, where he studied protein production in fungi. That shift led to a broader focus on human health, including cardiovascular and retinal diseases, and later to leading disease biology efforts in industry developing therapies for heart failure.
Now, he’s bringing that experience into quantum biology, where he’s especially excited about what this field could unlock for the world of therapeutics.
Welcome to the frontier of biology!

New instruments drive new science.
At the Quantum Biology Institute, that means building the tools needed to turn their hypotheses into testable experiments.
Weak magnetic fields may offer a new knob to actuate on biological systems. Once we understand what field conditions produce which effects, the path from knowledge to application could move quickly.
Take a look at the video below where Dr. @LodesaniA gives an overview of the work being done at the @QuantumBioOrg and the instruments being developed and used to support that work.

These electronic lab notebooks show some of the ongoing experimental work being carried out by the scientists at @QuantumBioOrg as they investigate quantum effects in biology.
Instead of only seeing the final results in a paper, you can look directly at the data and follow along with the research as it develops.
Whether you’re a researcher, student, or simply curious about how science works behind the scenes, we invite you to explore the data yourself.

This #WorldQuantumDay, let's also spotlight the scientists behind the progress.
The team at the @QuantumBioOrg, our largest grantee, is helping turn an emerging field into real, testable science.
While the Quantum Biology DAO advances the field through decentralized science by funding research, building community, and coordinating efforts globally, the Institute is where that vision is put into practice.
Designing experiments. Building new instruments. Generating the data this field needs to move forward.
This is what it looks like to build science in the open and push the boundaries of how we understand life.
Today, let's celebrate the people making it happen.
Ft. Michael Montague, Brian Ross, Venkatesh Sridharan, Morgan Sosa, Alessandro Lodesani, and Clarice D. Aiello.

Happy World Quantum Day!
A new field is emerging at the intersection of physics and life, asking a simple but radical question: could quantum physics be involved with biology, too?
At the Quantum Biology DAO, we’re helping advance this frontier through decentralized science: supporting research, building community, and making this field more open and accessible.
Today, we’re celebrating one of biology’s most profound questions, and the opportunity to explore it together.
