The Nz women’s rugby team are silky! It’ll be nice if the ref let the game flow a little and not be so pedantic about tapping the ball on the exact blade of grass a penalty happened on. First half I counted 5 quick taps she stopped 😭 let the girls play

The world lost a great man today in Tony Mundine. A man who never needed many words to make an impact. He was quiet, strong and carried a presence that spoke for itself. And when Tony did speak, you listened. For someone who achieved so much and was such a champion, what I’ll remember most was how much of himself he gave to others. His time, his energy, his wisdom and his support. I was fortunate enough to experience that personally. He was always in my corner, always willing to help, and always brought an energy into the room that you could feel. Grateful for every moment, every lesson and every bit of support you gave me. Rest easy, Tony. A true champion, but an even greater man. Sending all my love, strength and prayers to my brother Choc and the entire Mundine family. ❤️🙏🏽

The fact that I know how much goes into that charge down for Renz I can appreciate it so much more. It’s not luck or individual brilliance that’s team tactics and it was executed to perfection. What a game. 👏🏽

Good conversations around the rules. It’s not about right or wrong, it’s about how the game’s played, how it evolves, and how we make it better for everyone. Some strong ideas came through, and I’ve got a few more to discuss

I’ve been watching a lot of Rugby lately, and it got me thinking about how we could speed the game up and open it up a bit more. One idea I had, hear me out. To encourage more offloads and reduce the number of rucks, what if when a team knocks the ball on, they’re not allowed to touch it next which currently results in a scrum. If they do, it’s a long arm penalty. That gives the opposition guaranteed first rights to the ball. They can pick it up and play immediately with a backward pass, or if they want to slow it down, it could work similar to an AFL mark and you have 10 seconds to resume play or it’s a turn over again. If you step off the mark, you’re live and can be tackled. The goal is simple, reward teams that want to play fast, create more chaos, and reduce stoppages? Questions - would this ruin our beautiful game and allow less skilled players to play (which is what most people want inclusivity) Would it make it slower? Faster? There’s nothing wrong with our game?

The part of the game I’m struggling to enjoy right now is the number of long cut out passes being thrown. Bit ironic really, considering I probably threw more than anyone back in the day 🙃

Shout out to coach Dave Rennie. After the way he was treated by our administration in Australia, to now find himself with arguably the biggest job in rugby feels like a little bit of karma. We let one of the best coaches in the game go. Not only did we let him go, we pushed him out the door. So seeing him land on his feet like this, I’m genuinely happy for him. The “what could have been” might still come back to bite us, especially with a home World Cup coming in hot. Funny how the universe works sometimes. Congrats to the All Blacks for appointing not just a top coach, but a good man who understands that the game is about people first. That will play a huge role in their culture. PS. You’re the enemy now though 🤝✊🏽🤎

Watched the Wallabies replay this morning and damn, it was a tough watch. I genuinely feel for the players, because it’s clear they’re operating without a real system that gives them a chance to create good match ups. I’ve said it before, but their structure keeps putting them in bad areas of the field, and when that happens the only option left is hoping someone can produce a moment of individual brilliance. No team can thrive like that.
