Qortal Hub 3.0 is HERE, and there's quite a bit to unpack!
A redesigned interface, WebRTC voice calls, peer-to-peer screen sharing, a new onboarding tour, and plenty of improvements under the hood!
I put together a video walking through the new experience and showing some of these features in action.
If you've been curious about #Qortal, now's a good time to see what the developers have been building!

I traveled to #Liberpulco with one goal:
Introduce #Qortal to a community already thinking seriously about freedom, sovereignty and decentralization.
What followed was a journey through Liberland, conversations with people from across the freedom movement, and eventually a walk and talk with Jeff Berwick about Qortal and the future of peer to peer technology.
We documented the entire experience.
The result is our new documentary:
Hope you enjoy !! 😄

Had a wonderful time at @web3_warsaw. Met a lot of bright and great people. Made a lot of valuable connections and spread the word about Mansioncoin. Many more events to come for $MANSION . Until next time Poland! @OnlyHades_ @QortalJustin
I recently met @BerwickJeff at #Liberpulco (@Anarchapulco). It was a great time showing him Qortal in action!
Here's the gist of what we spoke about: most of us use the internet every single day without really thinking about who controls the infrastructure underneath it!
Our messages, content, communities and accounts generally depend on centralized platforms to keep everything running.
But what would an internet designed around peer-to-peer technology look like instead?
That’s the idea #Qortal has been working on for years.
what Qortal actually is, how it works, and why I think this approach to the internet is worth exploring.
If you’ve ever wondered what Qortal is, this one’s for you.

Important Qortal Hub update!
Qortal Hub v3.0.1 is now available, and we strongly recommend updating ASAP.
This patch fixes several issues discovered following the Hub 3.0 release, including:
✓ Memory leak bugs
✓ Inefficient database reads
✓ Message relaying bugs
✓ Improvements to voice calls
Voice calls now use WebRTC for audio, with Reticulum acting as a fallback.
And there’s a pretty cool new addition too: you can now share your screen directly during a call using WebRTC!
If you're already running Qortal Hub 3.0, make sure you grab the latest update.

AI is booming right now, but there's a physical side to it we rarely talk about: MASSIVE data centers!
All that AI compute has to happen somewhere, which means enormous amounts of infrastructure, electricity and water. So I started wondering: does it actually have to work this way?
What if AI compute could eventually be distributed across thousands of computers on a peer-to-peer network instead? That's what I explore in my latest video, including how Qortal's existing decentralized network could potentially play a role in something like this in the future.
This isn't implemented on #Qortal today. But I think the idea is pretty damn interesting!

Qortal Hub 3.0 is HERE!
Q-Chat has been completely rebuilt from the ground up.
✓ P2P messaging powered by Reticulum
✓ Direct file sharing
✓ Channels & categories
✓ Replies, reactions, mentions & GIFs
✓ Live presence & typing indicators
✓ Group calendars & events
✓ Better community discovery
✓ Qortal Land
And Qortal Land might be my favorite part.
You can literally enter a shared space with your community, see who's around, express yourself, chat, and challenge people to Chess, Checkers or Qonnect Four in a virtual #Web3 world!
At a time when governments and corporations are having increasingly uncomfortable conversations about the future of private communication, we're building in a very different direction.
Peer-to-peer. Decentralized. Actually fun to use.
Check out everything that's new in Qortal Hub 3.0:

The debate around online privacy just got a lot more interesting!
The EU has officially passed Chat Control, allowing many online platforms to scan private communications under certain conditions.
Whether you agree or disagree with the legislation, I think it raises a much bigger question:
Should our private conversations depend on centralized infrastructure in the first place?
That's exactly what I explore in my latest video.

Years ago, I mentioned a project called Qortal.
Someone recently asked me if it was still alive.
The answer is yes—and not only is it alive, but it’s also actively building. Let me tell you what it’s all about and why I think it’s worth checking out.
What if we've spent the last 20 years slowly giving away ownership of the internet...without even realizing it?
Here's a short clip from my latest documentary I made for a Telegram contest submission.
I'd love to know whether you agree or disagree.
Follow me on X (@QortalJustin) if you're into #Web3, #Blockchain, and reclaiming control of your #data on the internet!
The internet has changed considerably over the last decade!
It seems that every year, we give up a little more privacy, a little more ownership, and a little more control in exchange for convenience online.
With Chat Control advancing in Europe, and Android restricting app sharing even further, it feels like those changes are accelerating.
Inspired by Pavel @durov's contest on Telegram, I spent the past few weeks producing a short documentary exploring how we got here, why it matters, and what can actually be done about it.
During that journey, I also share why I've spent the last four years helping build @Qortal, a peer-to-peer network that offers a fundamentally different approach to the internet.
Whether you agree with my conclusions or not, I hope the documentary makes you look at today's internet from a different perspective.
If you found it thought-provoking, I'd really appreciate a like, repost, and any feedback you have.

Every few years, the same thing happens...
#Crypto prices crash, headlines start talking about another "crypto winter," and everyone wonders when the next bull market will arrive. But what if crypto winters don't actually exist?
When prices fall, blockchain networks don't stop working. Developers don't suddenly stop building. And most importantly, peer-to-peer infrastructure doesn't suddenly disappear!
The only thing that really entered the winter season was the price.
In this video, I explore why I think we've been thinking about crypto all wrong, and why the future of #blockchain depends less on speculation, and more on building technology people actually use every day.
Want to experience blockchain beyond charts and speculation?

Mention #Web3 and a lot of people immediately think of #crypto bros, #lambo gifs, weird ape pictures, and people yelling “to the moon.”
Honestly, I understand the skepticism! The marketing around this space has done a pretty terrible job of explaining why any of this should matter to a normal person.
But there’s one idea behind Web3 that I think is genuinely worth discussing: we don’t actually own much of our digital lives.
Our photos live on someone else’s servers. Our messages do too. Our followers, content, memories, and online identities all exist inside platforms controlled by a handful of companies.
We’re basically renting our digital lives from landlords we never agreed to.
I made a video trying to explain the whole thing in plain English, without the usual jargon or hype.
Curious what people here think: do you actually care about owning your digital life, or do you think most people are perfectly happy with the current platform model?

#Android was always marketed as the "open" mobile operating system!
But what happens when developers need permission before users can install their apps? Cause that is what will be happening in about 89 days according to keepandroidopen.org
Google says it's about security, while developers say it's about control.
Personally, I think the bigger question is this: where do we draw the line between protecting users and protecting permissionless innovation?
I explore that in my latest video!
Check out Qortal.dev if you want an alternative where you don't need any permissions to publish an app, which will live forever once it's up!

Calling your representatives to oppose the KIDS Act is a noble pursuit but they are probably already compromised by Israel.
The solution is a parallel system in which THEY don't control.
Qortal is the solution.

Did you know Qortal has its own decentralized alternative to Substack?
In this short demo, I'm publishing an article on SubWire, where content is shared through Qortal's peer-to-peer network instead of on a traditional centralized website.
It's a different way of thinking about online publishing, with users participating directly in the network itself, and hosting the data themselves, rather than through a centralized server.
Blogging has never been this free and transparent!
