QCIE is very disappointed to once again be seeing the Prep readiness message being spread by Kindys, Daycares, the Dept, others.

Segregated settings/special schools/non-mainstream schools - it doesnโt matter what you call them. They are a fake choice! And they are in breach of the Rights of the Child.

We stand with DRC Commissioners Bennett, Galbally and McEwin when they say โthat to achieve an inclusive education, all special/segregated education settings must necessarily be closed over timeโ.

They say โThis needs to be coupled with reforms to ensure accessible and high-quality inclusive education in mainstream settings that does not segregate students on the basis of disabilityโ.
And we want it faster than in 28 years! Thatโs 2 more generations of kids who are not going to school together, 2 more generations of future educators, policy makers, business owners - who see PWD as โotherโ. This must end!
