After last night’s debate, the differences between Letitia James and me could not be more clear.
I joined Fox & Friends this morning to discuss what’s at stake in this election, our sharply different approaches to public safety, and my plan to bring accountability back to the Attorney General’s Office.

The Attorney General is OBSESSED with national politics.
I’m focused on the safety of New Yorkers, and I always will be.

38 years ago today, Dade Murphy aka Zero Cool crashed 1507 computers, causing a 7 point drop in the NY stock exchange. He was 11 and his family was fined $45,000. He was banned from touching a computer until he turned 18.

I keep thinking about that Waymo incident last week.
The unsettling part wasn't a robotaxi calling the cops.
It was a human operator miles away watching passengers through interior cameras and turning the car into a compliance device.
Constant surveillance is being normalized.
Today it's a robotaxi...
Tomorrow it's every connected device.

DeBlasio froze the rent during a period of near-zero inflation and most of those were pre-2019 when RS had multiple cost pressure relief valves. Today the RGB is the only one. Completely different world.
Yes, NYC has become a cult. And so have London, Paris and many other cities.
A city is supposed to be transactional. You move there to get access to better jobs, smarter people, capital, culture, dating markets, ideas, luck. You tolerate the rent, noise and chaos because the city increases your surface area for opportunity.
But a lot of people now treat living in NYC/London/Paris as the achievement itself. They’re not building much, not saving much, not owning anything, not starting families, not necessarily living that well.
Social media (and short visits) made this worse. People not living in those cities romanticise them and feel FOMO, while people living there turn the city into their entire personality / personal brand.
Even San Francisco, which used to be somewhat immune to this, is starting to turn into a status symbol for wannabe entrepreneurs...
Is New York City a cult?
The goal for many people now is simply to live in a superstar city. Not do anything interesting there. Not to save money, not to own a home, or start a family. Being there is the achievement.
The city is not a means to an end.

Normalize buying land with your siblings and closest friends and building a place where your families can grow together.
Modern isolation isn't how people were meant to live. A few generations ago, extended families often lived just down the road from one another. Meals were shared, support was always nearby, and childcare wasn't a constant concern.
Bring back the village.
