“The next time someone says ‘fossil fuel subsidies’, remember they are talking about our so-called ‘leaders’ using working people’s taxes to invest in the deaths of children & the planet.”
– @kuminaidoo at #COP26 on why it’s a crucial necessity to #StopFundingFossils immediately – at Glasgow, Scotland

I'm on my way home from #COP26, full of frustration and fury after reading the draft declaration. The world's powerful governments propose to do more to defend the fossil fuel industry than to defend life on Earth.

current emissions reduction plans are full of loopholes & will bring us to 2.4 degrees! all this talk of 1.5 & yet agreements aren’t even close. this is a death sentence for millions. the planet does not compromise, this is betrayal #COP26

It’s 2021 and if you’re curious just how bad things are, this was seen driving down the Vancouver Island highway. If I live long enough to see the last old growth logged, this image will be what haunts me. Resource extraction is a form of settler colonial violence.

Pls @jjhorgan @KatrineConroy just....please act now. This should be illegal. I saw stumps of 1000 year old trees @SaveFairyCreek flagging tape on 2000 year old yellow cedars. It’s like destroying Pantheon or the Sistine Chapel to make a buck. Enough already. #oldgrowth #bcpoli
Less than 3% of old-growth forests remain in British Columbia. Fairy Creek, the last unprotected old-growth forest, is going to be gone unless we act now! #OldGrowth #bcpoli (1/4)
