He went after the phone records of Republican senators, and he could not name a single Democrat whose records he sought.
When he was pressed on whether he told the judge those records belonged to members of Congress, he hid behind non-disclosure orders.
Democrats begged for him to get more time, and John Kennedy shut that down by reminding everyone Smith is not Bambi’s baby brother.
This man weaponized the Justice Department against a president and now wants us to call it independence.

Cornell University hosted socialist political commentator Hasan Piker at Sage Chapel on September 24.
Now Cornell is back in the national headlines as prosecutors reopen an investigation into allegations that a former student was drugged and gang-raped by seven fraternity members in 2024.
That lawsuit deserves serious attention.
Cornell has a whole lot of explaining to do.
JUST IN: A NEW YORK DA IS REOPENING A CORNELL SEXUAL ASSAULT CASE THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN HANDLED RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.
Jane Doe alleges seven fraternity members drugged and assaulted her in 2024, and her attorney says campus police got a group chat showing a crime and still failed to follow through.
Cornell claims it handed out real punishment, while reports say some students were expelled and one was forced to write an essay.
If that chat flagged what happened and nobody stopped it until morning, that is not a campus “process.” That is a failure.
Duke Lacrosse and Rolling Stone taught America not to convict in the comments section, and the same rule applies here.
Get the facts fast, charge the guilty if the evidence holds, and stop treating a woman’s report like a PR problem.
