There's a distinction people conveniently overlook when discussing XBOX exclusivity: ownership. Sony doesn't own Spider-Man, Wolverine or Street Fighter, yet it's secured exclusivity for major games featuring those properties. Microsoft, by contrast, owns Fallout and The Elder Scrolls outright. It acquired the studios and IP, assumes the commercial risks and controls how those franchises are developed and distributed. Yet some people believe Microsoft has a moral obligation to preserve PlayStation's access to those properties, regardless of the competitive implications for XBOX. Historically multiplatform doesn't mean permanently multiplatform, and ownership doesn't come with an obligation to serve your competitors' interests.
