Found a 17 Honda civic for sale on Facebook marketplace last summer
Young kid selling it, only wanted $3,200
I asked why so low and he told me the a/c doesn’t work and it was going to cost $5,000 to fix
I offered $2,500 and he took it
I let the car sit in my driveway until December and then listed it on Facebook marketplace for $12,500
Some dumb kid bought it at full price and never even asked if the a/c worked
Some days when I’m in my climate controlled baby blue corvette I think about that kid sweating his ass off in that little shitbox

i think the toughest thing to understand is that it literally doesn't matter if your software is open source, closed source anymore - if it's closed source, people can and will RE: its internals, if it's a part of a broader suite, ppl will make it a plugin in their suite, if it's a model that people can blackbox fuzz and the model isnt huge and didn't have incredibly proprietary data, you are going to get copied on the tech
so every core product launch probably needs to be treated as an extreme countdown race, before the incumbent with the distribution eats you
brutal times to be playing, and extremely valuable/rare to find a corner of the stack that may be defensible and will stay defensible

- Combat is really fun, the switching between magic, ranged and melee is seamless and intuitive
- Voice acting is top notch
Had a brief chat with @davidspringate as well regards the tech and adapting the engine from cars to a character first RPG, and it was really interesting to learn what sort of work goes into this.
