This is our first of many opportunities to offer patients a surgical option when conventional resection is not possible. I am deeply grateful to the entire multidisciplinary team whose expertise, collaboration and dedication made this possible.

A study of more than 505,000 prostate biopsies at U.S. hospitals found prebiopsy MRI use increased from 14% to 64% between 2017 and 2026, highlighting growing adoption of MRI-guided approaches. Read the study co-authored by 4 @caseccc members: ms.spr.ly/6013aWvOx

Radiologists involved with prostate MRI worldwide: our survey on Global Prostate MRI Practices is live. <10 min, anonymous, IRB exempt. In collaboration with colleagues from @SAR_ProstateDFP , results will feed a global practice-patterns publication, informing payer/policy advocacy and future guidelines updates. Please consider responding and reposting/sharing with colleagues and radiology societies worldwide. Residents and fellows welcome to participate, too. forms.cloud.microsoft/r/VmWx…

It was an honor to represent the @RadiologyACR at 55th Brazilian Congress of Radiology (CBR26) meeting in Recife, Brazil. The meeting was impressive in scale: more than 3,000 participants and 350 speakers, including over 30 international speakers. Its theme, “Bridges of Knowledge,” drew inspiration from Recife’s historic bridges and reflected CBR’s deliberate commitment to connecting generations, imaging, and innovation. With more than 10,000 members across Brazil and activities spanning professional training, continuing education, quality and management, and advocacy, CBR embodies the idea of a “home for Brazilian radiologists,” beautifully illustrated in CBR's president, Dr. Rubens Chojniak, opening remarks. Its growing network of partner societies worldwide extends that sense of community across borders, creating opportunities to share expertise and build collaborations that advance imaging quality and education. I enjoyed sharing ACR initiatives in quality and education, including the ACR Learning Network, clinical designation programs, and our work in prostate MRI quality. Discussions with CBR leadership and international colleagues highlighted shared priorities and opportunities for future collaboration. The excellent scientific program, memorable social activities, and opportunity to experience Recife’s culture made the visit especially enriching. As a U.S. physician with Brazilian roots, representing the ACR in Brazil was particularly meaningful. Special thanks and hearty congratulations to Drs. Rubens Chojniak; Ronaldo Hueb Baroni, Director of International Relations; @mauzappa, Scientific Director; @SchuchAlice, First Treasurer and upcoming Director of International Relations; and @MorbeckFernando, Second Secretary, for their warm welcome and outstanding meeting. It was also a pleasure to connect with Society of Abdominal Radiology board members who were attending the meeting, including SAR President Dr. David Kim and President-elect and dear friend Dr. @ErickMRemer. Thank you to Drs. @waldchristoph (Chair Board of Chancellors) and @DSmethermanMD (CEO) for this opportunity. #ACR #CBR26 #SAR #Radiology #InternationalCollaboration

🌟 A special personal milestone, my 50th peer-reviewed publication! 🦾 Our new study is published in Surgery! @SurgJournal We evaluated 325 patients with stage III rectal cancer and found that baseline lateral pelvic lymph node (LPLN) positivity was not associated with worse oncologic outcomes when complete radiographic nodal regression was achieved after TNT. 🔷 Post-TNT nodal response, rather than baseline LPLN status, should drive management. Importantly, baseline LPLN positivity alone may not preclude organ preservation in appropriately selected complete responders. Grateful to my mentors, and the entire @CCFSurgery team for their mentorship, trust, and support throughout this journey. @ClevelandClinic @DavidLiskaMD @ScottRSteeleMD @davidrrosenmd @Purysko @jsommov @EmreGorgunMD @AmCollSurgeons – at Cleveland, OH

“While unlikely, we cannot rule out that de-identified data derived from their usage of our products helped improve our models.” I can’t tell if @OpenAI used the data or not, but it certainly reads like they have “seen” too many radiology reports 😂
We congratulate Levent Alpöge and Tristan Buckmaster on their remarkable mathematical work. We (the researchers and the agents) did not see any of their work through any means until they released it publicly — in particular, no specific user data was accessed in order to solve this problem. While unlikely, we cannot rule out that de-identified data derived from their usage of our products helped improve our models. However, our proofs differ significantly and even the precise results proved are different in the Euler case (forced vs. unforced).

🚨Pleased to share our latest work in @AJR_Radiology on implementing PI-QUAL in clinical practice, which I like to call a practical “PI-QUAL implementation manual.” 🎯MRI-directed prostate cancer diagnosis starts with high-quality images. PI-QUAL makes image quality visible, measurable, and actionable, helping practices identify and correct common quality issues. 🙌It was an enormous pleasure working with my senior author @giga_fra and the brilliant panel @AsbachP Ronaldo Baroni @Tristan_Radiol @AdrianoDiasRad @GiorgioBre @SilviaChangMD @MaartendeRoij @vbloegager Raphaele Renard-Penna and @ATongMD. Grateful for the editorial assistance from @arosenkrantzmd and @NickSchiedaMD 🙏🏼Lastly, I greatly appreciate the support from @theNAMedicine and CMSS in advancing this work 🙏🏼

This is what it looks like when someone actually takes the time to understand the state of medicine before opining on AI. Mark Cuban has built an extraordinarily successful and profitable business without exploiting Americans in the process. Others should be taking notes, especially those building AI models for healthcare.
No chance radiologists get replaced. A model is outdated the minute it is released. Model usage costs money. A lot more than a radiologist. Medicine is a business. Putting together AI with domain knowledge is complex. When it can be the difference between life and death, who do you want building it and using it ? People forget that using AI and trying to get accurate answers is a skill that will need to be taught in med school AI won't replace radiologists. But every radiologist will use AI

All the study designs so far seem imbalanced on doctor’s vs AI, either to the doctor or the AI. - comparing AI to a panel of human experts talking about a case is not reality - comparing human doctors to case simulations w/o factoring in real life “doctoring” is also not reality

Last month, I had the honor of participating in the @FocalSociety Meeting in Kyoto, Japan. I could not miss the opportunity to register this special moment. More than anything, I left the meeting inspired by what I learned from leaders in the field, such as @ALDCAbreu (USC), @veerukasi (UCL), @KaraWattsMD (Montefiore-Einstein), Jonathan Fainberg (MSKCC), @TarikBenidir (UF), and too many others to list here. The rigor, seriousness, and humility of the discussions were remarkable. 🇯🇵Japan was an unforgettable experience. What struck me most was the beautiful contrast between the slow and the fast ⛩️🚅 Serene ancient temples and quiet gardens existing in perfect harmony with futuristic, fast-paced cities filled with technology and innovation. Tradition and progress do not compete there; they coexist naturally. In many ways, that balance mirrors what we are seeing in prostate cancer care today. Conventional treatments that have helped patients for decades will continue to play a critical role, while rapidly emerging focal therapies and imaging technologies are creating exciting possibilities for more personalized and less invasive care. It is not about replacing the old with the new, but learning how they can coexist in the best way so that patients can benefit from them. Very grateful for the opportunity, the conversations, and the friendships built along the way. I also want to congratulate Antoine Leroy and the @KoelisBx team for creating technologies that help enable groundbreaking focal therapies and advance precision treatment for patients around the world. ありがと ございます 🙏🏼
