It’s important when parenting autistic & ADHD children to teach healthy ways to regulate emotions. Many neurodivergent adults who weren’t taught this use unhealthy methods like substance abuse, and self harm. Unlearning bad coping strategies is hard #autistic #adhd

Autistic meltdowns are a brain that is overloaded (by sensory, or emotions, or whatever really) and cannot cope anymore. They can look like anger, tears, pacing, self harm, ranting and other expressions of distress. We are not in control when they happen.

Sometimes my meltdowns are scoffed at and I am told to pull myself together. Which is hurtful and harmful and leaves me feeling unsafe. We need more education that all autistic people can have meltdowns and that includes adults.

I wish #terfs would leave my content alone. I’m never going to agree with you, and you’re never going to agree with me - but I’m not leaving shitty indignant comments all over your content am I now!

Not me realising I won’t be receiving an #ErasTour code today because the email I registered @TicketmasterUK is a redirect which no longer works. I’ve been refreshing all day. Doh.

ADHD = having a whole day and around 3 hours work to fit in, wasting time messing around on the internet and rushing to get the work done at the end of the day. Because you needed the pressure 😂 #ADHD

Mornings when you’re chronically ill = assessing for how shitty your symptoms are today and therefore how much functioning you get. Working on finding a positive in the low functioning days because I’m tired of feeling sad about this.

Haven’t been here much lately, returned briefly and yep it looks like Twitter is still the argument at the end of the party where everyone is tired and people aren’t listening to each other. Sigh.

#adhd Twitter - I’m switching from methylphenidate to Elvanse due to anxiety issues - I’d love to hear any reassuring stories of people who found Elvanse better anxiety wise ☺️ because that will calm me down 😂
