If you're in an unsafe domestic situation & have a hidden secondary phone: October 4th, FEMA is conducting a national test for emergency alerts. The sudden alert could disclose the location of your hidden device, so it's best to power it down during that time. Stay safe.

The Carmel mayoral debate is getting intense fewer than 20 minutes in—“my opponent is trying to deceive you,” Republican Sue Finkam says of Democrat Miles Nelson. Earlier, audible gasps when Nelson asked Finkam to condemn Moms for Liberty and she stood silently.

The second one was me on the tree dunes challenge at Indiana Dunes State Park. I’m from where the land is flat and made of clay. You’re making me do sand and hills? I can’t take it!

- Threatening w/an object (in my case it was a bat held over my head) - Punching/kicking walls, doors - Destroying irreplaceable things Eventually his destructive hands were on me. 8+ years later, I'm still afraid. It's #domesticviolenceawareness month - I won't be silenced.
In honor of Domestic Violence awareness month and bc this is the only place I have the guts to post this. I wanted to share. This was my life until a year ago. It happens more than the world acknowledges and it's terrifying. But I dont have to stay silent anymore. #free #nomore

During a shutdown, many agencies such as the National Park Service are also not permitted to update websites and social media pages. That means the viral park service social media promotions of Fat Bear Week would halt. trib.al/zSVpzRa

Was on a flight from SFO to IND and when we landed people behind me were saying “we’ve arrived on the east coast.”
i was in utah a few years ago and someone asked where i was from. i told them chicago, and they said “oh, so the east coast.” that’s when i realized half of u.s. residents genuinely have no sense of the geography or cultural regions in their own country

Birthright citizenship is one of the things America does very right and the fact that there’s even a hint of chatter about wanting to end it—primarily coming from people who pride themselves in their patriotism—because they hate migrants to much is so ugly

I don’t think I would have caught this. Especially since the way this site is ran now, I wouldn’t be surprised to see both company names in one email. If you get an email like this, go to the site directly to deal with it.

My favorite first line is from Neuromancer: “The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel.”
What's your favorite opening? Mine is the opening monologue to War of the Worlds. "No-one would have believed, in the last years of the nineteenth century, that human affairs were being watched from the timeless worlds of space."

Second place is probably The Bell Jar: “It was a queer, sultry summer, the summer they electrocuted the Rosenbergs, and I didn't know what I was doing in New York.”

Understimulation can be overwhelming, just like overstimulation. When I'm understimulated, my general threshold for coping goes wayyy down. And with nothing to occupy my brain, it turns inwards and I start ruminating about myself, putting me further on edge.
