We’ve been enjoying beautiful spring days at #Purdue, but there’s no avoiding finals next week. Students throughout our history have found ways to enjoy the sunshine while fitting in those last-minute study sessions. Good luck, Boilermakers!
We will be open 10am-1pm each day of spring break next week for exhibit visits and pre-scheduled research appointments.
In 1881, women’s suffrage advocate Paulina Merritt of Indianapolis used her #ArchivesHandwriting to draft a letter to the newly elected senator (and future president) Benjamin Harrison on "the equalization of the rights of citizenship." #ArchivesHashtagParty 1/2

The wide open fields on the north side of Purdue’s campus, now home to Engineering Mall and several academic buildings, were the perfect place for military inspections and ROTC drills early in the twentieth century. #ArchivesSalute #ArchivesHashtagParty 1/3
The distinctive power plant, smokestack, and second Heavilon Hall clock tower are clearly looming over this military inspection (undated). #ArchivesSalute #ArchivesHashtagParty 2/3
Military Inspection Day, May 1930, took place on North Stewart Field. Men stood near the Armory and the Pharmacy Building, which was newly opened that year and is now part of the Hall of Data Science and AI. #ArchivesSalute #ArchivesHashtagParty 3/3
