Beyond the old Norman entrance of Skipton Castle is the gem that is Conduit Court. This paved and cobbled courtyard, surrounded by a range of domestic Tudor buildings, contains the famous yew tree reputedly planted by Lady Anne Clifford. The courtyard takes its 1/3
ALT This image displays the Conduit Court at Skipton Castle, a medieval castle in North Yorkshire, The castle has been preserved for over 900 years and is considered one of the most complete and well-preserved medieval castles in England. The court is named for the 16th-century water piping that terminated here. The prominent, twisting yew tree in the center is thought to have been planted in 1659 by Lady Anne Clifford to celebrate the castle's restoration after the English Civil War.
