I’ve been super quiet on here about @PulpitAI mainly because the team has been heads down working on not flashy, but absolutely necessary infrastructure stuff.. But man I am so stoked on what we having coming this fall. We’re unlocking something for pastors, media and comms teams that hasn’t been done before and I legit think it’s going to blow peoples minds. The @Subsplash x @PulpitAI collab is coming together perfectly and the stuff we’re launching over the fall and next spring is gonna be so fun. If you’re a current Pulpit / Subsplash user shoot me a DM. Would love to share with you what we’re up to and get some feedback 🦾

This attitude towards pastors is why the guy is successful, btw
Preached 4 times for the first time ever today. Pastors who do this weekly, you guys are absolute animals and heroes. I’m cooked. Don’t know how you do it.

Technical moats are over. All that’s left is: - the anointing - alliteration - using ladders as sermon illustrations
Technical moats are over. The only moats now are: - Rich parents - Being good-looking enough for people to watch you make content for money - Being funny

Always love getting to chop it up with my big bro pastor adam mesa… the apostle of the Inland Empire and one of the earliest backers of @PulpitAI. Is AI Really Destroying the Planet? youtu.be/3hIBSbDREV8?si=jH2H…

Now do pastoral tech
Talked to someone recently who knows a lot about defense tech, and he made an interesting point: the test of most military hardware right now is whether the Ukrainians want it. They have a hot war going against a determined opponent, and they know what works.

The future is going to be absolutely incredible
Religion is an alignment technology. I unironically believe that there is a huge and urgent opportunity for divinity schools to invest in compute and forge research partnerships with their home institution's computer science departments.

This is also ministry advice
We’re not going to outcompete Hollywood on visuals. They have access to better AI tools than we do. We’re going to outcompete them by telling stories they would be terrified to tell.

There are a lot of fascinating ministry conversations to be had around this number But thankfully we are having *checks notes* exactly none of them

Very important Corollary: Christians abandoning the area of discourse or resorting to simplistic dismissal of the technology are failing to provide crucial witness "Just don't make new technology" is not good enough
AI will prove to be another area where Christian faith helps keep people sane and rational. There are non-religious, properly philosophical ways to come to understand machines can’t think, but self-described atheists often find them difficult to discern without a lot of help

Translation: let the *actual* pastors cook
It’s fascinating that @AnthropicAI wants to know how to morally form AI so they gathered “religious thinkers” for two-day seminars in SF.. including an author of an evangelical self-help book, an evangelical PR exec, a writer from Paris, and some Catholic professors. to quote directly from the nyt piece: "most did not lead faith traditions, or have a congregation." let the reader understand…

So what do you think, you want to build the future or sit around and complain that the past isn't coming back? A treasure trove of primary sources from church history, many previously inaccessible except by specialists, translated with the help of AI. Do you get it yet?
Today we're releasing a brand new resource called The Faith Received. It's a massive online library and research tool featuring nearly 20,000 primary sources across church history. You can see it here: thefaithreceived.com And read about it here: mereorthodoxy.com/announcing…

Replying to @JoshDaws
As a church planter I leverage AI every day -NOT to write sermons (though I do use it to repurpose my content). Yesterday AI wrote code to fix our site and today it designed and installed a custom newsletter template into MailChimp. Stuff I couldn’t do or have funds to outsource.

Assistant pastors everywhere
Accept the fact that machines can do your job better than you. Take a few days to grieve that. Change is hard. Then show up to work excited to put these machines to work for you. This is the birth of your new career.
