MP Shivani Raja Advocates Stronger Support and Honest Discussion on Mental Wellbeing
The Leicester East MP, who says the issue has become even more important to her since becoming a mother, believes much more needs to be done to create communities where people feel able to speak openly about their wellbeing without fear of judgement.
She says that no one should be left to cope alone and that strong and accessible support networks are essential.
She is especially keen to encourage honest conversations among young people, including discussions that cross cultural, faith, and generational lines.
As Mental Health Awareness Week is marked, the MP repeated her commitment to helping build a society where people feel heard, supported, and understood.

As today is the last day of Mental Health Awareness Week, I hope we all continue to raise awareness of this much‑needed issue.
Look after yourself and others.
This Mental Health Awareness Week, it was a privilege to host an event in Parliament, raising awareness of the importance of mental health and the need for continued support, understanding, and open conversation.
Together, we can help break the stigma and ensure no one feels they have to struggle alone. 💚
