Very glad to see that @AratiKumarRao's Marginlands has won a well-deserved award. The book is fascinating, especially the first essay which is about how desert dwellers in Rajasthan literally extracted water from sand dunes using traditional techniques, and were able to thrive in a very harsh environment. Sadly, these practices have been disrupted by 'development' which tends to denigrate and destroy all kinds of natural resilience.
