DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS TO THE COPS WITHOUT LEGAL REPRESENTATION EVER. And if your child is arrested, you INSIST that they say NOTHING but their name, age, and that they want a lawyer. THAT'S IT. NOTHING ELSE. Maybe even roll play with them beforehand. #ProtectChildren

There is a fundamental lack of understanding in foreign coverage of this election about what Flávio Bolsonaro actually is, who and what he represents. Gangsterism. Rio Militias. Organised crime. He isn’t his Dad. He’s actually worse. youtu.be/glTfj5dU6HY?si=ihB-…

The Trump admin is moving forward on plans to impose financial penalties on Americans in default on their federal student loans and hire private debt collectors to go after them. The plans are unlikely to be announced until after the midterms. washingtonsun.com/economy/tr…

The deforestation of the Amazon surged under Bolsonaro. Now under Lula it has fallen to the lowest on record. Bolsonaro's son, now running for president, threatens to reverse that. trib.al/75BfbU8

This proposed plan is absolutely unacceptable. Here’s what the plan actually does: 36 holes of public golf cut to 18. No more mini golf. No more park. More running / cycling road. No more playground. No more introductory course. Nobody has said a word about the Cherry blossoms. Who is this actually for? Not the kid learning to golf. Not the family in a walk. Not the birders. This was never about the public. It’s for the elitists who want a private showcase, and one man’s ego.
You have got to be f**king kidding me… an 18 hole golf course that fully absorbs the entirety of Hains Point. Disgusting and shameful acts by Department of Interior. We have been saying this for MONTHS.

As a reminder, this document was found in Bolsonaro’s Exec Secretary’s devices, it was printed in Planalto printers (Brazil’s 10 Downing St) and taken to Alvorada Palace (Brazil’s Presidential residence). It spells out a plan to assassinate Lula with poison

The LAPD labor contract expires in eight months. The next mayor will begin negotiations w/the police union in the next few months. The police union is spending a ton of money to support Bass, and will expect big raises in return. Her last police contract broke our city:

Texas Rep. Kay Granger was found living in an assisted living facility after missing months of votes in the House and Republicans kept it quiet. I don't want to hear their fake outrage because Talarico was off the campaign trail for nine days.

There is NO industry that is untouched by prison labor. Not one. Men, women, and children as young as 14 make everything from clothes, furniture, electronics, and canned foods to building materials, school buses, and office supplies. Incarcerated women sew the uniforms for McDonald’s
I knew that they use prison labour for certain things, I didn’t know this one specifically.

To my supporters on the fence in the LA Mayor's race: Please vote for the one who will let me AUDIT and INVESTIGATE fraud, waste, & abuse. The City spends $45 BILLION annually and the Mayor cut our budget to do audits and investigate fraud, waste, & abuse. Vote Nithya Raman 🙏🏼

Fact check: Mike Rogers is one of the chief architects of the modern surveillance state. In Congress, he opposed every substantive effort to protect Americans’ privacy and worked hand in hand with the NSA, FBI, and intelligence agencies to bypass and erode the Fourth Amendment.
Flock cameras shouldn't be used to track law-abiding citizens. As a former FBI guy, I know security and liberty aren’t enemies. Good government protects both.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
- Rogers opposed ending bulk phone records collection - lead sponsor of CISPA. - helped author the Patriot Act clerk.house.gov/Votes/2013412 congress.gov/bill/112th-con… mikeiswatching.com/sources.html

A one-time 5% wealth tax would bring Silicon Valley’s billionaires’ wealth back to where it was just 31 days ago, on September 7. When it was "just" 178% higher than on January 1, 2023. They’d rather let 3 million people lose their health insurance than let that happen.

The government *still* isn’t tracking how often immigration agents detain U.S. citizens. We are. 500+ Americans have been handcuffed, held at gunpoint or held against their will in Trump’s second term. Our tally is almost certainly an undercount. THREAD ⬇️

Voters are being deliberately misled by the billionaires. On the surface, Prop 41 calls for state government audits, while Prop 42 promises to protect savings and retirement accounts from taxation. This looks appealing on the surface but makes no sense: there are already audits in place, and no plan to tax retirement savings. The only goal of Prop 41 and Prop 42 is to nullify the billionaire tax if it passes. Yet their campaign materials mention neither Prop 40 nor billionaires. As a result, most voters do not realize that passing these measures could nullify a “yes” on Prop 40. Current polls show majorities supporting all three measures at the same time—Prop 40, Prop 41, and Prop 42. We have therefore reached the absurd situation in which the billionaire tax could be approved and overturned by the very same voters on the very same day, due to misinformation.
