“It’s sad to see what’s happening with the pubs throughout rural Ireland. It’s the way of life gone, you know?”
The closure of the Ramble Inn in Halfway, Ballinhassig (a pub with over 300 years of history) is a reminder of just how valuable local pubs are in our local communities, and the support needed to keep going.

So effective that banning happy hours, making off licences close at 10pm, banning multibuy discounts, segregating alcohol from other groceries, banning loyalty points on alcohol and introducing minimum unit pricing hasn't made problem drinking go away. Better do some more, so.
Good to see that the new gov has committed to ‘Continue to tackle harmful alcohol consumption through effective regulations’. The most effective regs are controls on price, marketing and availability.

Replace the doom scrolling with a book or magazine and “better” with “just as good” and I’d agree with this.

This is not on. If you want an over 18s only pub or over 18s after a certain time I completely respect that, but don’t let children in and then kick them out over nothing when you’ve changed your mind.
