My take on the #AssistedDyingBill and why it ought to be referred to as the Assisted Suicide Bill. We don't like the word 'suicide', but it's unavoidable.

I would like to thank all those who have prayed for me in recent days. I wish to express my particular gratitude to the doctors, nurses and all the staff of the Gemelli Hospital. This experience has made me feel particularly close to all those who are living with illness or infirmity. Now that I have overcome this delicate phase I will gradually resume my activities, always with God’s help and your prayers.
Hot take, encountering someone and being really stirred by how 'exhausted' their soul looks is pretty much the most un-autistic response imaginable.
Hot take:
Neurodivergent people can understand social cues just fine. What throws us off is often the INAUTHENTICITY behind them.
So much of society revolves around fake smiles, meaningless small talk, and pretending everything is fine when it clearly isn’t.
Like, babe, I can see that you’re hurting. How am I supposed to comfortably sit here and discuss the weather when your entire soul looks exhausted?
There is something mentally completely new and liberating when one confesses their self hatred as sin against God's creative will. It goes deeper than any psychological processing ever can, giving brokenness over to the Lord on His mercy seat.
Carl Jung (founder of analytical psychology) on Catholics and therapy: In 40 years of practice, he treated only about 5–6 practicing Catholics. He said the Church’s confession and sacraments already did the psychological work. When Catholics came to him, he often sent them back to their confessor: “Confess it before God—you’re better off in the Church than in analysis.” One case even earned him a private papal blessing for teaching Catholics how to confess properly.

The Pope was out for ONE DAY. Come on.
⛪ Belarus has blessed its first AI-generated religious icon
The icon depicts Carlo Acutis, an Italian teenager who was canonized in 2025 and became known as the “Cyber Apostle.”
The icon was installed in a Catholic church in Novolukoml, where Archbishop Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz blessed it on October 11.
The move has sparked debate on social media, with some believers arguing that AI-generated images should not be used for prayer.
Would you ever want to see a psychiatrist who thinks it is 'discriminatory' not having suicide as a treatment option for mental illness?
Replying to @KristopherWells
Yes of course its discriminatory if track 2 exists for people with medical illnesses. I do think there is much to be done to make track 2 better - including the need for a specialist in the condition to review the case, but it is clear that as it currently is its discriminatory.

There is a tremendous need for inpatient psychiatric care. Patients & families are desperate for therapeutic inpatient treatment with psychological support that offers them dignity, privacy & respect, but what they often experience instead is traumatizing & dehumanizing. (1/3)
This is extremely problematic. When someone has dementia, we can't assume their will no longer counts. Even in signing an advanced directive, one can't fully comprehend the state of their wills within that future state.
If my advance directive says "please give me MAiD when my dementia gets to the level that I'm a burden on my loved ones", them the answer is you give me MAiD, not respond to my delirious protests.
If you don't know how to "interrogate delirium or confusion", you shouldn't be a doctor.
There is NOTHING HARD about this scenario, except if you don't understand how brains work.
If a husband and wife agree 'we will have sex no matter what on a Tuesday night', @tylerblack32 would rightly say it would be horrific for a husband to continue if the wife develops dementia and says 'no' clearly to the husband who she no longer recognises.
Thank you Holborn and St Pancras for keeping the Green Leader away from an institution he has absolutely no business being a member of.
