Bitcoin's primary innovation is decentralized digital scarcity through cryptographic proofs, NGU is merely a welcome side effect of maintaining that core function successfully.

Now that the BIP110 folks have forked onto their own chain, can we get back to the actual important work?

Isn’t it funny that all the people working around the clock FOR FREE to do security audits on hundreds of Bitcoin projects are the same people BIP110ers have been calling scammers, spammers, grifters, shitcoiners, liars, pedos, etc for months? Isn’t it funny that there are no BIP110ers on the red team? Isn’t it funny that the people who are *actually* saving the Bitcoin ecosystem have been constantly slandered and vilified by the people who *claim* they are “saving bitcoin”? Isn’t it funny?? Shoutout to @callebtc, @Rob1Ham and the many other red teamers who for some inexplicable reason are saving bitcoin even though they’re shitcoin spammer scammers. We may never know their true motivations…
🚩 Bitcoin Red Team update 55 hours into the campaign We're now 24 people working around the clock. We've scanned 425 projects so far and have produced 1029 high+critical (H+C) findings.

Every model tested was capable of identifying the bug using only information from the original reddit post about lost funds (and the related firmware repo). When coupled with even a passing understanding of HWWs and their options for entropy, the same prompt expanded to allow all tested models to produce a functional PoC that could brute force the complete space. While I agree with the sentiment, the world has changed and most people have access to at least one model that is capable of one-shotting things like this now. I can't begin to predict what this means for responsible disclosure and incident response standards over the next few years. What a delightfully terrifying time to be alive!
I, for one, am reassured that we have autistic developers confirming on a live space to… checks notes… 700+ random listeners that funds are still exposed and readily available to be rugged by a sufficiently advanced script kiddy. Great awareness campaign!

LLMs are just Infinite Monkey Theorem, except we execute every monkey that doesn't reliably produce meaningful output. It is up to you to determine if a "next word prediction" machine that is smart enough to avoid getting culled is a form of intelligence or not.

I would like to retract my previous endorsement of @Tesla. Avoid this company like the plague. I loved my vehicle, but you couldn't pay me to continue dealing with what most people would class as fraudulent behavior from their service team.

Let's take a look at what we are selling here.. maybe they found a way to win the stegonagraphy war or beat information theory.. ohh, it fails to do anything to the three most common uses of arbitrary data (two untouched the last already has a workaround). Well I'm sure it does something to reduce the harm from them.. ohh, it removes the only harm-reduced way to store data. Hmm, I'm not sure this proposal does anything to prove those experts wrong, but hey I'm sure it will succeed as PoW is the real measure that can't be Sybil attacked.. shit, this has <1% hashrate supporting it. Well, we gave it a shot, enjoy your virtue signal shitcoin.
Ironically, Core is uniting Bitcoiners from all over the world around BIP-110. More and more people are recognizing what they see as a clique of self-appointed "experts" downplaying protocol abuse, insisting nothing can be done to prevent it, and dismissing legitimate concerns through gaslighting. Instead of engaging with those concerns, they attack Bitcoin's organic immune system. 👇💯🎯

BIP-110 Math 1 extra bytes per 255 or 510 bytes of data 15-40% Having less than 1% if hashrate is "winning" And a consensus fork to reduce data that stops 0/3 of the most common data inclusion tools on day 1 is a "success"
Porndinals just released their 'BIP-110 ready' update. Translation: inscriptions now cost 15-40%+ more in fees than before. Extra OP_DROP spam in the new envelope + 256-byte push limit = bigger tx, higher vBytes. Big images especially get wrecked. This is what BIP-110 has intended.

How could anyone have possibly predicted that this fork proposal was not effective at mitigating data inclusion. ALL of the most common data inclusion tools (Ordinals, Stamps, and Runes) were either unimpacted or are already patched. The worst part is that @lifofifo still has all these other opcodes to choose from xitter.cf/i/status/1983600008634… Also, how do we add software that has BIP-110 support to the list? 🤣

If you tell a mechanic to bolt wings to your car because there is some philosophical value in a flying car, they are correct to remind you that it is a car and that there are laws of physics that make it unable to be a plane without compromising the things that make it a car. If you tell a developer to add ineffectual censorship to the network (not just your node as we have that without bip 110), they are correct to remind you that this is a non-permissioned system and attempting to regulate arbitrary data in this way is no more sane then trying to make your car be a plane. In both cases, being upset that the mechanic or developer doesn't wish to be part of your insanity and taking the existence of physics or information theory as a personal attack will forever say more about you than about them.
Once again, you guys are confusing technical with philosophical. Yes, many of the Bitcoin devs have far more technical knowledge than plebs do about the inner workings of Bitcoin and the code. That doesn't necessarily mean they also understand Bitcoin fully conceptually, or what Bitcoin should/should not be. We've been trying to make this argument from day 1 of the debate. Bitcoin (the community) is massive, with all sorts of skills and disciplines brought to the table, from technology, to coding, to economics, to strategy, to philosophy. It IS NOT simply this little bubble of developers who write the code (as important as they are). This has, and remains, one of the primary wedge-issues in this debate. And, one of the big problems (which brings the hostility) is that many of the devs have been arguing with an attitude of.... 'that doesn't matter, we're the ones in control.' and 'You plebs have no say and are irrelevant because you don't know how to code.'

With that said, Bitcoin is awesome and I encourage people to try things if they truly believe they will work as that is how some people learn. May your three wheeled convertible fly far and fast with all the windows up to keep the wind out while you soar through the skies with the top down.

You can't hold Bitcoin, at most you have a specific set of bytes that allow you to reallocate a ledger entry from that set of bytes to any other set of bytes. You don't even own the private key.

"We made sure to coordinate with our Counter Terrorism unit after the incident so that we could respond quickly if the driver was determined to have been British. We were ready and willing to punish the terroristic act of a Brit running over immigrants, but it turned out to be a small oopsie whoopsie of a Somali immigrant just being in the car while is rolled gently into a few pedestrians." To my British friends, the "sun may never set", but it is astounding how low it has managed to fall in the sky. To my non-British friends who think I m being unfair in this characterization. UK police have consistently upcharged British citizens recently if they have even dared to suggest publicly or on social media that their small island nation can't sustain these immigration levels. I have no question in my mind what the report would read if that condition was true and they were a Brit.
We’re investigating a serious collision that took place in Ealing Broadway earlier. Five people were injured after being struck by a car. The driver has been arrested. If you saw anything or have footage of the incident, please contact us on 101 giving the reference 4607/27JUN.

You maintain software the same way you maintain the brakes in your car. Software is the soft layer between the hardware that if not maintained will cost much more later.

The Venn diagram of apps/wallets that use BIP-177 and track paper balances instead of actually holding Bitcoin is nearly a circle.
