Don’t know who she is, but watching her speak fills me with pride. 🇮🇳
When an ordinary Indian woman stands up, speaks with such knowledge, courage and clarity, and refuses to be intimidated by power - that is the India I am proud of.

We are definitely the only country in the world where people die in stampedes so often and still no corrective change ever happens.
Puja pandals, Kumbh mela, or even railway stations - this mass-murder technique funded by government and administrative apathy, covered-up by a criminally pliable news media, and accepted by a tired, oppressed public is a wonder possible only in the greatest civilisation on the planet.
Prayers for the departed souls in the Kolkata tragedy. Sadly that’s all most leaders will also do and move on.

Urgent #Neha Bora #ReleaseNehaNow:
After a lot of pressure on Delhi Police, colleagues have been informed about Neha's whereabouts. She has been transported across Delhi for 5 hours where she was the lone detainee.
Her lawyers have met Neha at the R K Puram station. It is mid night and police is not giving any clarity about her release.
Neha has been sick for the past few days and needs her medicines. The police is even refusing us to give her that.
Why is Delhi Police holding Neha until Mid Night in a Police station?
When will Neha be released? Why is a women student leader being put in a police station at mid night?
Shame on Delhi Police @RahulGandhi @priyankagandhi

When I was in Tihar jail, An SP from UP had come down to Tihar to interogate me with one of the FIR, During interrogation, He said, I've been following your facebook parody page since 2015 and Loved your Satire. Most of the police men I interacted when in Jail said, Media bikau hai. And that they only follow @ravish_journo and a few said @dhruv_rathee.
"Delhi Police personnel are my supporters. They fell at my feet & begged me not to take any action against them."
Dear @DelhiPolice , do you have Dhruv Rathee’s detention video? If yes, release it just like you did in Dipke’s case.
This mf deserves public humiliation for speaking crap about you.

It’s horrific that RSS and other Hindutva goons are in the protests.
But, through this:
1. The majority will have a direct confrontation with the cancer in its society
2. The youth will get to learn how a pogrom—not a riot—happens with the goons being backed by the police

Yesterday was at Azad Maidan on day 8 of Sahil Wakode's parents' hunger strike. Heartbreaking to see grieving parents sit on protest just for due process & justice. Meanwhile, IIT Bombay continues to stonewall
Will request mumbai folks to plz join the protest. It'll boost their morale as well as of all activists & well wishers sitting with them 🙏🏽 Jai Bhim
PS/Note:: On average, every 5 weeks there is a student death on an IIT campus. Over 50 students have died on IIT campuses in the last 5 years.
Hardly in any of those cases has internal query found someone guilty, or institutional culture changed. Only some token superficial mental health initiatives are announced. The toxic casteist culture & profs remain shielded.

most toxic problem in Indian univs is equating rigor with "strictness". When tapasya-pariksha culture replaces curiosity & exploration-- you get a pressure cooker.
Real issue is how this system treats "failure" & "cheating". Most teachers default think students are lazy, spoilt cuz back when they were students it was so much worse & it made them "stronger"
This obsession w. strength IS the weakness.
Pressures on marginalized caste, low income, first gen students is unbearable. This should be a moment to look at our exam toxicity & academic culture-- instead casteist Savarnas will make it about bogus merit discourse & make strawman arguments against reservation.

Corruption is not an issue anymore because everyone understands (and even respects) this basic human urge to hoard, to make more money. We even celebrate the top 15-20 billionaires of the nation as some sort of beacons of our culture and pride.
But what gets missed in this razzle-dazzle is that corruption is not just someone making extra money by bending rules - it also means those bent rules KILL people. In building fires, collapses, fake cancer medicines, adulterated foods, drunk driving, and a hundred other ways.
Corruption actually means someone making money by murdering people, murdering us.
Escaping India within India is now more expensive than escaping it by leaving it.

Where do I begin? One example: film songs (& televised ads) play in long distance trains. The audio doesn't require headphones; streamed right into the compartment regardless of whether or not you want to listen. The assumption is, nobody reads nor does it need to be encouraged.

Not only is the joy in the work, but the work itself is shaped by the struggle of the artist. In fact, the grief, the paltry returns, the self-doubt - all of it is a necessary. With AI, you can only crib from others' experience. It is like eating food chewed up for you by others.
