“By contrast, the Christian idea of God as Essential Love, as Love inside Himself, and therefore also outside Himself; the idea of God's humility, of His self-abasement, manifested first in the creation of the world, i.e., in the placing of autonomous being alongside Him-self, in the gift to this being of the freedom to develop according to its own laws, and therefore in the voluntary limitation of Himself--this idea for the first time made it possible to recognize creation as autonomous and therefore morally responsible to God. In the ancient world, there could be no idea of the moral responsibility of creation to God, because there was no idea of the freedom of creation. Christ brought the idea of God's humility to its ultimate limit: God, entering into the world, casts off the image of his glory and puts on the image of His creation (see Phil. 2:6-8). He subordinates himself to the laws of creaturely life. He does not violate the world order. Nor does He not strike the world with lightning or deafen it with thunder, as pagans thought (recall the myth of Zeus and Semele). He only burns like a meek light before the world, drawing to Himself His sinful and weary creation, not punishing it, but calling it to wisdom. God loves His creation and is tormented for its sake, is tormented by its sin. God extends His arms toward His creation, implores it, calls it, awaits His prodigal son. And mankind, the head of creation, is responsible to God for creation, just as man is responsible for man.”
- Fr. Pavel Florensky, ‘The Pillar and Ground of Truth: an essay in orthodox theodicy in 12 letters’, Letter 9: ‘creation’, Pg: 211
The spirit of modernity is not even atheism, it is demanding that God justify Himself to us for making us exist; a true hatred and resentment towards reality itself. Modern people can imagine Hell, but are offended by Heaven.

A strange poem on Eden, the most infinitely unpackable metaphor in the Western Canon, By Milton II
I generally resist the double-backed (Othello 1.1.116–117) bestializing of the edenic story (Genesis 2:4–3:24), as it leads to rapid reductionism and a gear-decoupling of large and important parts parts of the allegorical-widget. However, depending on how literalo-figuratively we take the ancient belief that the Woman is Earth (See also, Woman = Earth), then the banishment of the artist formerly known as snake to the underground (Genesis 3:14) would be the birth of the modern fecundary act.
The soil was watered from below (Genesis 2:6) (Earth & Water) before the cognospheric ecosystem changed, as you know, and now it must be watered from above, which is man (Air and Fire), and he must toil (Genesis 3:17–19) in the underground, as she is the ash and the dust from which at birth and back into which for the birthing of the next you will be returned (Genesis 3:19).
The Earth and the Water are Woman, so the watering from below means something. The watering from above means something else as it's Man. And the curses bestowed upon them (Genesis 3:16–19) are the result of what an alien race will someday call Sexual dimorphism.
To be born again, men must not go back into the womb (John 3:3–4). One must wash oneself bodily of the Earth in the Waters and die to it (Romans 6:3–4), rising again to the spirit (John 3:5–8) and the Air and of new life (Romans 6:4).

Intelligence must draw on memory. The mind must not simply compile data — as an algorithm now does more quickly than we can — but recall lived experiences, which contain depths of meaning that only the human soul can recognize, and connect more deeply with the goodness of these experiences. Everything that is good begins “with the Spirit” and thus possesses a breath, a dynamism and a sense of communion that, once experienced, are engraved upon the heart. vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

Hidden benefit of reading is teaching your mind to slow down. The world’s job is to speed you up. The devil wants you racing around in your head, anxious about false realities. Pick up a book, slow down. The best ideas come from staring at the words on the paper and drifting off.

I’m an accelerationist because I refuse to believe that the best humanity can do is preserve the present.
Aging still kills us. Disease still destroys families. Billions of people spend most of their waking lives working just to survive. Energy is still scarce. Intelligence is still scarce. And we have barely scratched the surface of what humanity could become.
AI, robotics, biotechnology, fusion, automation and space technology aren’t threats to some perfect status quo. The status quo fucking sucks for a lot of people.
I want AI smarter than us. Robots doing the work nobody wants to do. Medicine that treats aging itself. Abundant clean energy. Radical abundance instead of artificial scarcity. A world where your ability to live a good life is no longer determined by how valuable your labor is to somebody else.
Of course there are risks. Manage them. Engineer around them. Build safeguards.
But deliberately slowing progress has a cost too, and somehow we almost never count the people who die, suffer or waste decades of their lives because a technology arrived 20 years later than it could have.
I don’t want humanity frozen in 2026 because we were afraid of what comes next.
Build faster. Discover faster. Cure faster. Automate faster.
The future isn’t something we should fear arriving too early.
For millions of people, it’s already arriving too late.
