Today, we are recognizing the 161st anniversary of #Juneteenth.
On June 19, 1865, the last African Americans who had been held in slavery in Galveston, Texas learned of their long-withheld freedom—two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

🌊 Our third graders made quite the splash at the aquarium this week! Parents, comment which marine animal your child couldn't stop talking about at home! 🦈

🦖 Thank you to the parents who came out & to Cosmic IQ for bringing the prehistoric world to life at PS 140! Our students stepped inside the dome and traveled back millions of years for an unforgettable Dinosaur Discovery experience during today's science fair! 🌍🔬
Thank you PENCIL for giving us this opportunity to connect. We were excited to host Ms. Julie Jainath at PS 140 for Principal for a day. Our students spoke with an industry leader, and we were delighted to show them around our school. 📚🌟
Our students stepped into the spotlight as guest interviewers for a special Mother's Day feature. 🎤
The responses were thoughtful, heartwarming, and occasionally... factually questionable.
Thank you for helping our students grow, dream, and succeed. Happy Mother's Day! ❤️

Happy Mother’s Day!
At NYCPS, we celebrate all the incredible mothers and caregivers who make up our school communities.
We are proud to partner with you in supporting the next generation.
Our principal knows how to celebrate the stars of our school! Sip & Paint + mocktails for our incredible teachers 🎨🍹 We learned what inspired their journey to the classroom—and asked about their weird emotional attachments to school supplies. Meet the hearts behind the lessons!
🌟 April was ALL about celebrating our heroes!
