I want a futurism that feels like this. Like we've mastered nature and mastered the human-scale longed for ideals.
Not like flying plastic or plants on top of glass-plastic

We need a completely new culture around infrastructure -- images, architecture, rituals, stories etc that make technological innovation feel like a shared national adventure. Note that the 20th century photos of big infrastructure that ppl now share w/ nostalgia were often the result of an active effort to CULTIVATE the technological sublime. The govt and companies commissioned photographers, filmmakers, artists, even musicians to imagine new infrastructure as a source of beauty and power and purpose. We need to do this again in a new era -- need a National Design Studio @ndstudio for America’s built environment. Imagine what it did for .gov web design applied to bridges, rockets, autonomous cars, cities, data centers...
Now that agents are making an app every second design matters more than ever
You and your agents are designers now whether you like it or not
You just have to decide if you want to be a good one or not - work with Calvin to level up!
When anyone can ship, everyone is a designer.
The barrier to building has collapsed. But the ability to craft something thoughtful, that resonates with real users is still a challenge.
I’m launching Design for Builders, a small, in-person course for generalists who want to sharpen their design instincts.

Calvin I'm surprised you didn't mention Involution, the term you introduced me to yesterday. Upon researching further I discovered it's a sociological term for the phenomenon of the increase in complexity in a society that's reached its end state, not accompanied by an increase in productivity or a change in the actual work.
Tool shaped objects create increased complexity to no real end. Kanna / good simple tools aren't a good example of that because they're the thing that's been complexified away from. They are the anchor away from involution. We yearn for them!
My fancy ebony knitting needles don't just produce quiet focused moments for me; they produce beautiful sweaters. Plus connection to the countless women before me who honed the craft and passed it down.

bro, in 2026, you need to be meaning-maxxing.
savor the sunset. call your friends. tell them you love them. presence-maxx with your family. ponder life's mysteries. make something with your hands. treat your attention as sacred.
living meaningfully is the real flex.

Every single non-desert solar field in the country should be maintained with rotationally grazed sheep.
This would create a supply of both American-made meat and wool while reducing the fossil fuels typically used to maintain the fields.

@ProxyUniversal said this too, almost word for word, last night, and I'm inclined to agree.
Faith and trust are how we got where we are against many odds

Personally, I believe we should revive Art Nouveau as I think it deserves another run.
We can adapt it to our times - and although reaching the same level of craft will be hard, we should be able to.
Companies like @Monumental_Labs could play a role in this
