ALT This World Mental Health day we're thinking of anyone who is.... Struggling with their mental health Feeling alone On a long waitlist for support Afraid to ask for help Supporting someone else with their mental health Taking it day by day
ALT "Talking about difficult feelings, including suicidal thoughts, doesn’t have to be scary."
ALT "You can walk in 5 different classrooms and see 5 different teachers connecting with students in 5 different ways. Every teacher has their own talents and strengths which make them amazing." ––Educator Dr. Brad Johnson
ALT At the top of this anchor chart is written, "7+2=9 but so does 5+4. The way you do things isn't always the only way." Below it, in a box, are the words, "How can you respect others AND their thinking?" followed by student responses.
ALT Four signs arranged vertically on a cabinet door. From top to bottom: "1: Even with help, I still don't understand." "2: I'm starting to understand but I need some more help." "3: I got this! I understand." "4: I am confident! I COULD TEACH THIS!" Ss have marked their confidence level by placing post-it strips on the appropriate sign.
ALT Questions to ask your child What things are you looking forward to? Is there anything you want to talk about? When was the last time you were very happy? What makes you feel calm? What difficulties are you facing now? What can I do to help? Where is a place you feel safe? How are you finding things at school at the moment? What things would you like to do in the future? Would it be helpful if we planned each day together? Do you have any worries about the coronavirus? Where in our home do you feel like you can have your own space? What are you worried about when you lie in bed and can't sleep? Can you show me what you like about gaming? How do you feel about things changing? What do you think could help you feel better? What have you enjoyed about today?
