Wits Citizenship and Community Outreach (WCCO) has received a R274 620 donation from the PPS Foundation towards the refurbishment of the Student Communal Kitchen at Sanctuary House. 💙 🏛️
The kitchen is a vital part of the Wits Food Programme, providing a shared space where groups of students prepare meals for fellow students experiencing food insecurity. The donation will fund much-needed improvements, including new cupboards and essential kitchen equipment such as an industrial gas stove, electric oven, extractor fan, fridge and freezer.
Wits alumna Ayanda Seboni, PPS Group Executive: Mutuality and Executive Trustee of the PPS Foundation, attended the handover alongside PPS Corporate Social Investment Manager Kapish Singh. For Seboni, returning to Wits was a reminder of her own student journey and reinforced her commitment to supporting students with the resources they need to thrive.

This is the root of the issue. Uncaring leadership who’ve driven their economies into the ground. Citizens flee to greener pastures in droves, out of sheer desperation-the leaders visit on weekend shopping sprees, while their people suffer.
The AU seemingly blind to this crisis.

THIS IS NOT HOW THIS TWEET SHOULD’VE BEEN WRITTEN.
We need bold leadership and clear communications from the Presidency condemning violence and intimidation, and making clear the consequences for violence and illegality.
Protest must be free and peaceful.
My Fellow South African,
Tomorrow, 30 June, marks the date that several groupings have identified for protests against undocumented immigration in South Africa.

The role of the police during a peaceful protest is to facilitate assemblies, protect everyone's rights, use force only when lawful and necessary to de-escalate tensions.
During acts of vigilantism, the police must intervene, prevent unlawful violence, and remain impartial.
