Talk about George Floyd's life. Talk about his family. Talk about his loved ones. Talk about the systems of oppression he overcame. Talk about all the joy he brought those who knew him. Talk about how badly he wanted to live. Talk about how he deserved to live.

YouTube is making a harmful change. They plan to remove the ability for everyday users to caption youtube videos. Why? NO IDEA! This will harm all deaf, hard of hearing, second/multiple language-learners, and others who need captions. FIGHT BACK. change.org/p/google-inc-don-…

I'm HoH. I don't talk about it much. My mother wears a hearing aid. I will too. I mention this because I don't think people conceptualize how many people are left out when videos don't have captions. @ProtestAccess is an indispensable service.

If everyone tagged us instead of trying to do the work themselves, there's no way we could get through it all! [We are currently working on 700 videos, hence long delays sometimes!] Just writing this so folks taking videos know we are not a substitute for a captioning company🙂

Hey💙We will respond to all your requests! But just so folks know: we encourage all videographers, journalists & content creators to caption their own content. It's on everyone to make content accessible. We are just volunteers aiming to fill the gaps when people don't/can't!

There must be a way! But I’m running out of steam and can’t come up with a solution. Help #AnthroTwitter #AcademicTwitter #AccessibleAnthro #Accessibility #VirtualConferencing #ClosedCaptions @zoom_us @otter_ai @ProtestAccess – at Montréal, Québec
I’m running out of ideas. I need closed captions on Zoom. I don’t have funding for a third party app that uses AI for live captioning or to pay a live captioner and my uni doesn’t have live captioning as part of their paid Zoom account. Does anyone know of free third party apps?

Perhaps the greatest anti-slavery speech ever uttered is “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July,” by Frederick Douglass, in 1852. I wanted to make the speech more accessible. Here’s a thread with an abridged version of the speech we should reread every #FourthofJuly. 1/
