We lose millions of litres of drinking water from Sydney and Wollongong’s water catchment every single day as a result of the impacts of mining on our water catchment.

Huge show of support for Palestine, Gaza and the Palestine solidarity movement at @Sydney_Uni this morning while Zionists conduct their cynical 'march for a safe campus'. Real safety means thriving communities. That and genocide just don't mix.

Heavy rain is predicted for Wollongong this weekend. What are the operators of the mines in this city doing to ensure predicted heavy rain won’t pollute waterways? Can we have confidence that we won’t see coal wash in creeks.

Can we have confidence that people in Russell Vale won’t have to deal with coal wash in their front yards?

Can we have confidence that settling ponds are going to be okay if we get lots and lots of rain in a very short period of time?

*If* wildlife spotters and catchers aren’t checking trees before they’re destroyed, animals such as this devine baby black-footed tree-rat, a listed threatened species, are almost certainly being condemned and crushed to death. Is this your ‘Nature Positive’, @tanya_plibersek?
I’m told 18 protesters were arrested today, yet allegedly clearing is occurring without fauna spotters & catchers & areas that shouldn’t be cleared have been? If true, why aren’t breaches of environmental law & regulations punished? Is this Nature Positive, @tanya_plibersek?

Trees & their hollows are homes for wildlife, including threatened species such as the Gouldian finch, black-footed tree-rat & northern brushtail possum. Today they're being destroyed at Lee Point in Darwin, after @Tanya_Plibersek's approval. Ecocide in action. Environment laws?

Finland is aiming to go carbon neutral in 15 years. They're creating jobs by boosting #renewables and saving trees. Its CO2 emissions have already dropped 21% since 1990s levels. We have the solutions, let's speed it up and implement them. #ActOnClimate #climate #energy

Over 100ml of rain at Russell Vale, over 170ml of rain at Helensburgh, debris on the roads at Mt Kembla — how are the coal mines at these locations looking this morning? Who checks whether the settling ponds overflowed? Who takes samples from the creeks?

Russell Vale locals are reporting that Brokers Rd was covered in coal after this morning’s heavy rain, and coal was strewn across resident’s yards. Truly shocking, but entirely foreseeable.
