are you suffering from the underpants gnome problem? for those unfamiliar, there’s an episode of south park where these gnomes go around stealing underwear and store a mass pile of them. when asked why? their answer was literally in the image: phase 1: steal underwear, phase 2: ? (nothing), phase 3: profit. this is literally where 99% of businesses and creators go wrong with their social media accounts. they open one and start posting (collecting underwear) and expect a profit without ever having some kind of goal for their account. whether that goal is to (eventually) earn money, build a community or land a role as a creator, you need to have that in mind before even posting on the account because that will direct your approach and type of content that you put out. it will also help you figure out what’s going wrong when you’re posting and not achieving your goal. instead of blindly posting and expecting to achieve something and wondering what the fuck is going wrong. always start with your goal in mind and work backwards from there.
