(4) A lot of people supported my walk but not everyone did and not everyone will support your passion/mission and it doesn’t have to be a 7 month walk — do it anyway without any “other” expectations whatsoever — and don’t give up. That/this is how you make real positive change.

(3) During my walk I learned most politicians didn’t know about “aging out.” in fact 99% of people I informed during the walk never heard of foster children aging out of foster care at 18 and into homelessness. People became passionate about helping. Some even walked with me.

(2) I share this with you not to boast but to inspire & encourage you to do something positive about whatever it is you’re passionate about in this country. I’m passionate about helping foster youth so I walked 1/2 across America to raise awareness for those aging out at 18.

(1) In 2010 I campaigned with (then Assembly member) @Jimbealljr in Sac. CA for AB-12 A bill to extend foster care services from 18 to 21 in California) In September 2010 Gov. Arnold @Schwarzenegger signed that bill into law which changed childrens lives forever.

Thinking about all the kids in the rural areas who’s only transportation to a school house was a school bus and the only person who’d report child abuse was the school teacher. – at Nashville, TN
