Art always confronts the sociopolitical realities of its time. In the Philippines, this power of visual art became particularly potent in breaking free from the shackles of the over-20-year Marcos regime.

At the height of the severe economic crisis PH faced in 1984, he said, "Well, I do not know what they mean by crisis ... They never had it so good." Even when inflation rose to 50%, GDP growth slid to -7%, and the people went poorer.
Marcos Sr's docile technocrat. Never forget.
Former prime minister and longtime finance chief Cesar Virata died on Friday, October 2. He was 95.
Virata was one of the Philippines’ most prominent economic technocrats and a central figure in economic policymaking during the Marcos dictatorship. He served as secretary and later minister of finance from 1970 until the fall of Ferdinand E. Marcos in 1986, making him one of the longest-serving finance chiefs in Philippine history. rplr.co/CesarVirata

MARTIAL LAW IN NUMBERS
Fifty-four years have passed since dictator Ferdinand Marcos declared martial law across the Philippines, ushering in what many Filipinos consider one of the nation's darkest eras.
Here's a look back, by the numbers, at martial law under the Marcos regime. #NeverAgain #NeverForget

Today is Ishmael Bernal’s birthday.
As one of the visionaries of the Second Golden Age of Philippine Cinema, Bernal famously captured the social milieu of the country during Martial Law. He has been dubbed by critics as “the genius of Philippine cinema” for his sharp wit and groundbreaking feminist portrayals of women. His works include the iconic ‘Himala,’ ‘Manila by Night,’ ‘Relasyon,’ and ‘Nunal sa Tubig.’
He would have been 88 years old today.

‘LIMOT NA BAYANI NG MARTIAL LAW’?
Sa tuwing ginugunita ang pagdeklara ng martial law sa Pilipinas, muling nabibigyang-pansin ang kuwento ni Liliosa Hilao, isa sa mga kabataang biktima ng batas militar.
Makalipas ang mahigit 54 taon, unti-unti na nga bang nakakalimot ang mga Pilipino sa isang kabataang naging simbolo ng mga sinapit ng marami noong malagim na panahong ito? #PhilSTARUnwrapped

14 years of hardship, brutalities, plunder started with Proclamation 1081, signed by Ferdinand Marcos Sr. on Sept. 21, 1972.
Marcos Sr. built his regime upon corpses of lies and corpses of the tens of thousands who died.
Never again.
Never forget.

Atty. CJ Narvasa, a member of the Duterte defense counsel in her impeachment trial, is a grandchild of the late Andres Narvasa.
Narvasa was the general counsel of the Agrava Fact-Finding Board, formed in 1983 to investigate Ninoy Aquino's murder.

This quoted post is unavailable.
A former civil law dean in UST, Narvasa was invited by Justice Corazon Agrava into the Board because of his legal credentials.
Among Narvasa's strides in the Board was the creation of a 150-photo chronology that retraced what happened at the airport tarmac after Ninoy was shot.
The presence of @SenImeeMarcos in the INC-led rally tonight at the EDSA People Power Monument is historical perversion, and a spit on the graves of all victims of the Marcos dictatorship, including the student she had killed in 1977, Archimedes Trajano.
