During a visit in South Africa, our member @val_moser visited the Black-footed Cat project led by Alexander Sliwa in Benfontein Nature Reserve. These visits are very helpful for us - we can learn a lot for our own projects researching small wild cat ecology and conservation

To do this research on Black-footed Cats in South Africa, a dedicated team collecting experience over many years is key. Only patience brings insights into such elusive species.

And what a great species it is! The way they move shows that these cats need to be secretive to survive in this harsh environment. Always on the lookout for food and danker alike!

Following our Brazil tour in July, we are very proud to be supporting @ProjectFelis and Ana. 😊Our donation allowed the publication of 200 extra copies of this wonderful educational book for children about the wildlife of Emas NP in Brazil. More here: projectfelis.org/brazil

We did this survey in the area of our planned #mammalwatching hide to better know what is around! Wild cat is a great sign😊
Highlights from #SnapshotEurope, a collaborative #cameratrap survey. Together with @ProjectFelis and @L_i_n_d_r_a this was a lot of fun! Some nice species such as #Wildcat, locally rare Eurasian #Nutcracker, and curious #Badger #snapshot #SnapshotUSA

At the start of the month, the first international mammalwatching meeting was held in Asturias, Spain! 🇪🇸 Among the participants we had interesting discussions and presentations on responsible mammalwatching and how the community can contribute to #conservation

This jaguar demonstrated the meaning of the term power, dragging this 8 ft long, armour plated, 74 toothed, chunk of contracting muscle out of the water. Jaguars are estimated to have the 5th strongest bite in the entire animal kingdom [source: buff.ly/2ubjlH4]
