🌐On April 9th, a meeting brought together the teams of CityPoll (ICRA) and NINFA (LEITAT).
🎯Goals and results were shared, fostering an open exchange of insights.
🤝The session highlighted concrete opportunities for future collaboration, both in the short and long term.

🚨 Excited to announce the upcoming conference:
“Urban Runoff Pollutants: Occurrence, Impacts on Freshwater Ecosystems, and Mitigation Strategies”
🗓️ June 12-13, 2025
📍 Donostia-San Sebastián, Basque Country, Spain
Save the date! 📝

ALT This conference aims to bring together research on pollutants from urban runoff, their dynamics and concentrations, their impact on freshwater ecosystems, and strategies to mitigate their effects. The event will include three sessions in which participants can present their research through oral presentations or posters: - Hydrology and modeling of urban runoff - Urban runoff pollutants - Impacts of urban runoff on freshwater ecosystems
▶️Last week, Isabel Cadena (ICRA) presented her findings on urban runoff pollutants at the 28th ISSS!
Using LC-HRMS screening, she identified a wide range of contaminants. Industrial compounds, particularly those related to tires, were the most prevalent in urban runoff.
🗣️Take a look at the video about this experiment conducted at the @BiologiaUB!
💧This system of rainwater ponds aims to study the self-purifying activity of green filters that process rainwater from urban areas to assess the effectiveness of these nature-based solutions.
💧Last week, at the XXII AIL MEETING in Vigo📍
Focused on: "Aquatic ecosystems under threat: improving our knowledge to mitigate the effects of global change, promote adaptive management and engage citizens"
Several talks about the CityPoll Project were conducted!
📝This week, CityPoll members gathered in the Basque Country to share important updates and preliminary conclusions, review accomplished and pending tasks and plan new objectives for the project's final phase.
New experiments have been conducted to understand the impact of pollutants on algae and biofilm communities exposed to acute concentrations of urban pollutants found in urban runoff. The aim is to determine their EC50 values to understand their effects on aquatic ecosystems.
