Up until a few years ago, Ontario municipalities shared recycling costs with food producers 50/50. The policy was then updated to put all costs on food and beverage producers.
But then the costs of the program ballooned 500%.
Our fairly small company is tracking to pay $1 million in stewardship fees this year. 3 years ago we paid a few thousand dollars - for the year.
We need to control recycling costs, these charges are raising the price of groceries behind the scenes, and making it hard for small food producers to grow.
I don’t like bell peppers enough for them to be $4 each.

Finding out where Canada’s imported fresh food sits on the supply chain is alarming. We’re paying for the unripe and overripe, the almost rotten, the mishapened and rejected.
Discount cruises have better quality ingredients than Canada now. That’s a bad thing.

I sent an email to Lactalis about the additives in the 10% cream, and this morning I called their customer service department. I was told that the change was due to a temporary production issue and that they are reverting back to the original ingredients - cream and milk.

There is stupid. And then there is David Eby NDP level of stupidity.
> Campains on taxing the rich.
> NDP campaigned on universal $10/day childcare for every BC family.
Also
> Sends his kids to a $10/day program while having $500K+ household income.
> Freezes the program with only 1 in 10 spaces at $10/day, while 75% of BC kids can't get a licensed spot at any price giving BC families the 🖕
> Attacks BC employers who primarily provide jobs to middle class and low income BC families then takes their kids' spot at affordable childcare facilities for his own kids.

No. Absolutely not.
This is a classic psychological tactic called “BANDWAGON FALLACY”…they (the govt funded strategy groups/media, BlueSky etc, want you to believe something)
They are spinning this narrative using their “strategy group” psychological operations.
The phenomenon being employed here is called “bandwagon fallacy”…when people believe something mainly because other people believe it, regardless of their own beliefs.
They utilize Opinion Polls: News segments that frequently lead with phrases like "Polls show an overwhelming majority of citizens support this new policy." This shifts the focus from why a policy is good or bad to the mere fact that it is popular, nudging undecided viewers to fall in line.
By creating the illusion of a massive, unified consensus, media outlets capitalize on our natural psychological fear of missing out (FOMO) or being socially isolated.
The truth Canadians need to believe before falling for this latest psyops is the following:
July 1, 1867: Canada became a self-governing entity called the Dominion of Canada through Confederation.
This date is celebrated as Canada Day.
Britain still kept control over foreign policy and constitutional changes.
Then on April 17, 1982: Canada patriated its constitution with the Canada Act. This final step meant the British Parliament could no longer change Canada's laws, making the country fully sovereign.
We do not need to step backwards into a feudal state.
(Watch the attack dogs now be released)

Same. I'm paying more for after-school care right now than Eby is for daycare.
It's just a bad program though. I'm poor and I've got 4 kids so i should love it, but it's garbage. Childcare provider's hate it, because once they sign up they have no control over their prices, the government tells them what they can charge. But if you don't sign up you are competing with the $10 a day outfits which are driving down the price.
On top of that, $10 a day is geared towards the big group daycares. The best daycares are the family daycares: women running a daycares out of their homes, who provide personalized care, take kids on adventures, and are a familiar face. Group daycares are boring institutions with a revolving staff. But the women running the family daycares are being driven out of the industry by the government.
Unbelievable. I’ve struggled financially as a single mom, spending every penny of my left over income, and sometimes savings, to afford daycare/after school care. And yet @Dave_Eby, with his premier salary and doctor wife, is getting it for $10/day.
This makes my blood boil.
Every single public official or politician getting paid out of the Canadian taxpayer purse must divulge if they are taking the daycare spots of single parents and low-income workers.
Ask them: What government services are they exploiting?

Hi BC. So today we learned that Point Grey, where the average home goes for 2.75 million, has a ten dollar/day daycare, and David Eby plans to run his three kids through it. The NDP sees no problem with all this because they have no ethics.
Voters in Vancouver Point Grey may be looking for a new MLA after learning that David Eby, with a $600,000 family income, is using $10/day taxpayer-subsidized childcare while low-income families wait.
Conservative candidate Alex McMillan is a hard-working dad who paid for his own childcare.

Nanaimo’s most prolific offender is back on the street. Released Thursday on time served. 274 convictions, 81 of them violent. This is the same person who threw a brick at a pregnant woman downtown in 2022.
I have two daughters. I know what parents in Nanaimo are thinking this week. And I hear stories like this all across our province. Repeat violent offenders released again and again, only to create more victims. Williams Lake, Kamloops, Prince George, Surrey. Same story, different town.
The court heard this person told a probation officer about wanting to go back to jail the day before the latest incident. Someone that unwell asks to go back inside, and the answer is a probation order and a list of streets to stay off. Right now in BC it’s a jail cell or the sidewalk and nothing in between.
David Eby and the NDP came to Nanaimo in 2023 and announced a special program for repeat violent offenders. This offender was in it. Last December David Eby and the NDP said it was working.
A Conservative government will amend the Mental Health Act so police can get people like this into mandatory treatment, build the psychiatric and treatment beds so there is somewhere for them to go, hire 250 more police and 500 more RCMP officers for rural and regional communities, add 50 Crown prosecutors and work with Ottawa to fund 20 more judges, and publish the numbers on repeat offenders every year so you can see for yourself whether it’s working.
Nanaimo has waited long enough. So has the rest of BC.
Strong leadership for serious times.

Dear Canadian Dairies: If you don’t stop putting extra crap in the cream, watering down the milk and palm-oil-ing the butter, the people will revolt en masse.
And they should. Stop it.
Are there are any coffee cream, whipping cream or half & half just made of MILK & CREAM?
