Oof, this is taking a bit longer than I hoped... I'm sure the end result will be all worth it, though.

Wow, 10 years of Plants vs Zombies: Heroes?
I've never drawn PvZ before, but I had to give it a try. Happy anniversary to the game that, no joke, helped me find my friends and changed/saved my life.

ALT It’s my FAVORITE(yes, in capital) someone else’s PvZ OC that I’ve truly loved ever since I joined the fandom. I held out for two months trying to calm myself down, but I just can’t seem to get any better. I think I’ll have to keep drawing them until I get tired of myself. I’m so sorry, ZomArtist, If I making you feel burden I didn't even put 'Daily' in the tags bcs I'm just going to doodle on them whenever I want
I don't know the name of the Peashooter buddy behind you, but he's just like me for real. that's just my every day
I really feel you, man.

Calling All Villains has somehow produced the most annoying, pathetic, uniformed, corporate-coded, spiteful and downright draining discussions about Indie Animation more than any other indie animation project released this year.
Y’all don’t want this to be fun anymore huh?

Normies don't want to understand this happens with EVERY animation and it's the most normal thing ever, all they think is "muh studios are greedy bc they want to make toys of the characters", most changes are beneficial, just look at Shrek's development history

Many artists (like me) hate to hear this but if you want to be commercially successful to cover a big budget, you have to be willing to refine your ideas & designs to be appealing to the general audience.
If you don't want that, keep your raw ideas but don't quit your dayjob.
"Why doesn't the final character design ever look as good as the concept art?"
Because the designs they come up with in concept art are iterative and are often found to not be easily readable in 3D space under different lighting conditions or with different facial expressions.
They also have to be easy to animate when budgets are constrained, and have to be possible to make into a toy for merchandising.
There's also just plain old marketability. A design that's too exotic risks alienating potential audiences. That means it has to follow current trends and recognizable shape language.
Also, sometimes the concept art you see is from a completely different conception of the character. A character's personality and role in the story can change significantly over the course of production or development, sometimes going from a villain or side character to a protagonist or vice versa.
