“This Interim Final Rule is part of a multi-layered attack on the U.S. asylum system."
Today, we joined immigration legal service providers and advocacy organizations in filing a federal lawsuit to protect due process for people seeking asylum.

Important challenge by a strong suit of immigrants rights organizations challenging the new rule bypassing the #asylum office and sending asylum seekers straight to removal proceedings. #DueProcess #Refugees

Decree #18 traps women and girls in abusive marriages while appearing to license and validate child marriage by regulating the separation of such marriages rather than prohibiting them. I call for it to be revised in line with human rights standards or reversed. #Afghanistan 👇
#Afghanistan: Decree on separation of spouses will license child marriage & prevent women & girls leaving abusive relationships, warn experts. "Increases potential for abuse of power by guardians making it almost impossible to report or act on abuse.”

This #WorldRefugeeDay falls in the 75th anniversary year of the 1951 Refugee Convention — a fitting moment for the #InternationalHumanRightsClinic at the @usflaw to release our report: #Human Rights in Limbo: #Kakuma Refugee Camp and #FreedomOfMovement in #Kenya.
The report is the product of 2 years of clinic work — from designing the research + securing access through fieldwork in Kakuma + Kalobeyei, drafting, + revision — carried out in partnership with refugee-led partner organizations.
As the Kenyan govt moves towards implementation of the #ShirikaPlan, our report offers concrete, constructive recommendations grounded in the words of #Refugees themselves.
"You are just controlled... We are just left here."
#FreedomOfMovement is among the rights the Convention guarantees, yet the report documents how the systems governing refugees' movement in Kenya erode that right and, with it, access to health, education, livelihood, and expression.

Returning Afghans to #Afghanistan under Taliban rule while welcoming Afrikaner South Africans with open arms is such a blatant statement of the current U.S. Administration's racist, exclusionary agenda. Shameful.

Extremely disappointing new US sanctions against ICC officials - including some who have worked on #Afghanistan - assault the independence of the Court & are a devastating blow to victims worldwide. Imperative they be reversed. The Afghanistan investigation is crucial for justice
#UnitedStates: New round of US sanctions against 2 judges & 2 deputy prosecutors of the @IntlCrimCourt are a direct assault against the independence of the tribunal and a devastating blow to victims worldwide, say UN experts.

Shameful. Wrong.
In an order issued without reasons or rationale, SCOTUS allowed the Trump administration to deport migrants to countries not their own without first having the opportunity to demonstrate that they face a risk of torture.
