All living former presidents and their wives attended this morning’s 25th anniversary 9/11 ceremony in New York City. The current president did not attend.
According to a New York Times report, Trump was considering attending but changed his mind after being told he wouldn’t be allowed to speak. Instead, he attended the ceremony at the Pentagon.
Another reason he reportedly decided to stay in D.C. is that he’s scheduled to fly tomorrow to his golf resort in Ireland, where the Irish Open is being held. Leaving from D.C. makes the trip easier than flying out of New York.
Priorities.

Republicans win the White House, enact trickle-down tax cuts, and collapse the economy.
Feel like we've been here before?
Here's why it keeps happening.

Q: Can you pledge that the DOJ will always act independently of the White House?
Attorney General Blanche: No, I'm not going to pledge that

Donald Trump thinks his tariffs have been "incredible."
Incredible for who?
His disastrous economic policies have raised our costs, they're screwing over our farmers and businesses, and they're hurting families all across Pennsylvania.

This November, Pennsylvanians have a chance to flip four Republican seats, deliver a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, and elect strong Democratic leaders up and down the ballot here in our Commonwealth.
That’s how we’re going to put a check on this President’s reckless agenda and continue to get stuff done for the people of Pennsylvania.
79 days until Election Day.

Investing in space exploration isn’t just about space. I've made this argument a lot—as an astronaut and as a senator. The pushback is always the same: why spend money up there when we have problems down here? Here's the thing: we're solving problems down here by exploring what’s up there.
In 2001, I flew on Space Shuttle Endeavour to the Space Station. We carried out studies on bone density loss in microgravity. That research contributed to the development of Prolia and Xgeva, drugs now used to treat bone loss in cancer patients. People are alive today in part because we went to space.
Two NASA engineers at Glenn Research Center developed a tiny implantable transmitter to monitor astronaut vital signs when they exercised in space. A company licensed and used it to build a monitor that warns heart failure patients of a potential crisis.
NASA needs medical diagnostics for astronauts millions of miles from a hospital. That challenge produced a portable device that tests a single drop of blood for diabetes, kidney function, and cardiovascular disease in minutes. It's now being used by Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. It exists because we‘re working to put humans on Mars.
NASA helped build the Search and Rescue Satellite-Aided Tracking system. Satellites carrying this technology link emergency beacons to rescue teams worldwide. It has helped more than 63,000 search and rescue operations.
World Central Kitchen uses data from NASA's Earth Observing System satellites to build maps guiding staff distributing food and water in disaster areas. The satellites were built for science. Now, they're saving lives on the ground.
I flew four shuttle missions. I know what it costs to get humans into space.
The innovation that comes from pushing humans to the edge of what's possible finds its way back down here. Into hospitals, kitchens, and the hands of first responders. And also into yours.
That's why I'll keep fighting for NASA's budget. Not just because I believe in science and exploration. Because I know what science and exploration makes possible here on Earth.

When Trump was first elected in 2016, the Gulf states were, as one former Trump admin official told me, "like kids in a candy store." These days, they just want him to get out of the way.

Japan's pacifism used to be a point of national pride– and political necessity. Those days are gone. PM Takaichi has a plan to get rid of the post-war "Peace" constitution: kill non-Japanese people.

Today's Supreme Court decision reverses hard-won progress under the Voting Rights Act.
It means less representation for millions of Black Americans and other voters of color, as lawmakers gain greater ability to manipulate their districts. There will be more extreme partisan gerrymandering, lopsided elections, less accountable government, and policies that hurt rather than help with everyday life.
But this is no time to be demoralized, because we know it does not have to be this way. We can mobilize around reform, new laws, and where necessary, constitutional amendments for fairer government. Only then can we feel the benefits of a balanced Court, a truly representative Congress, and an election system free from the distorting power of extreme corporate and partisan manipulation.

On the 40th anniversary of Chernobyl, it’s important to remember that Japan didn’t learn the lessons from that accident nor have they learned lessons from their own. The next nuclear disaster is just a matter of time.

Jeffries on Kash Patel: "We have to stop putting all the blame on the people who nominated this incompetent, toxic, malignant individual. What about the people who confirmed him? It's extraordinary to me that Senate Republican confirmed people like Noem, Bondi, Hegseth, RFK Jr, and Patel."
Buttigieg: And my word of warning to my own political party is that we would make a terrible mistake if we thought that our job was to just take power somehow and then put everything back the way it was. That’s not what we’re here to do.
We’re not out to go around and just find all the little bits and pieces of everything that they smashed and tape it together and say, “Here you go, I give you the world as it looked in 2023.” That’s not going to work. It’s not what we need.
So much has changed, and the truth is they are destroying things right and left. They’re destroying a lot of good, important things. They’re destroying some useless things too, because they’re destroying everything. So now we get a chance to put things together on different terms.
I was shocked at how many young teens were hanging out in this area obviously homeless or almost there. Sadly they might not be interested in any efforts the city makes to help—they seemed to be looking for a place to fit in and a sense of belonging.
