There are hundreds of software tools available for research right now.
But in reality most of them are not worth your time.

There is no doubt that without additional funding we will have to shrink our labs and increase student/GSI ratios. It will be difficult. But at least our grad students won't be starving. Now starts the pressure on Sacramento.

I am happy to share our new preprint about copulation in millipedes. This study was an excellent bachelor thesis of Justus Brandt @ZoologyRostock. Justus investigated the functional morphology and selection forces that might have shaped gonopods of odontopygid Spirostreptida.

Really excited to share my last PhD chapter, featuring awesome undergrad @larabreithaupt, and @3rdreviewer ! We developed two new approaches to phylogenetic comparative methods that correct for gene trees rather than a single species tree.

My request 4 reimbursement 4 all summer conference travel was denied. I went to two totaling thousands. Academic conferences resuming in person but budgets are still frozen and austerity still happening. Moving forward, I will miss folks but I will no longer pay to go to work 1/2

Let's be clear. Eli Lilly should apologize for increasing the price of insulin by over 1,200% since 1996 to $275 while it costs less than $10 to manufacture. The inventors of insulin sold their patents in 1923 for $1 to save lives, not to make Eli Lilly's CEO obscenely rich.
