Men will watch this video of German riot police stuck in the mud at a coal mine protest and suddenly get the battle of Agincourt.

Regarding Greenland. Trump wants to rename it after himself. He wants Mercator maps in the future -- where Greenland is continent-sized -- to feature his name. Seriously, that's why he won't let go of it, even when he knows the US already has all the military access it needs

What does Trump’s Greenland push say about his worldview? @adam_tooze and Ivan Krastev are here to help us make sense of the latest. New pod out now! #theweeklyshow #jonstewart #politics

Bravo -- nice post! November 20 is the 80th anniversary of the opening of the main Nuremberg trial!
Here’s a video of the U.S. Army blowing up the giant marble swastika, a “potentially divisive” symbol, that stood over the Nazi rally grounds in Nuremberg.

El-Hai's 'The Nazi and the Psychiatrist' is that rarest of all gems: a well-sourced historical biography that is also a page-turner

@Prof_Borg this is amazing thank you you just made our Veterans Day. We would so love to have you on one of the shows talking about your experience as a historian talking about how you feel the movie reflect the truth compared to opinion.

Outstanding essay! As our own world order shifts, how wonderful to have this brilliant treatment of such transformative moments in the past --
The First Real Peace Settlement after the First World War. The Locarno Pact’s Enduring Legacy. My latest essay for @EngelsbergIdeas engelsbergideas.com/essays/t…

Reposting with a better summary-line from The Nation . . . I was pleasantly surprised by the new James Vanderbilt film:

Thank you -- I admire your work as well! One of West's accounts of her time at the main Nuremberg trial recently featured in that New Yorker retrospective series they are running, for their 100th anniversary . . . such beautiful (and witty) writing

A thoughtful and finely balanced article. Rebecca West’s view of the trials were a sobering perspective - a touch of reality among the hyperbole of the trial reports.

Victorious crew can no longer throw their coxswain in the Thames -- it's too dirty! (I was thrown in when I steered this race in 1983 -- in those years the "Ladies'" Blue Boat raced at Henley, tho, not on the Tideway. Clean enough but v. v. cold.)
Congratulations to @cubcsquad Women's Blue Boat on winning The Boat Race 👏🎉 We are so proud of you!
