Today Israeli authorities barred me and other European elected representatives from entering the West Bank to meet Palestinian students and civil society leaders, as part of a @ProgIntl delegation. We knew that by crossing into the occupied Palestinian territories, we risked being detained, interrogated and turned away by Israeli authorities. And that, alas, is exactly what happened. For more than eight hours, we were held, interrogated and made to feel as though we had done something wrong simply by attempting to enter. The simple truth is we had done nothing wrong. We went to show our support for the Palestinian people and highlight the terrible injustice and violence being perpetrated against them. We want to ensure that people back home do not look away from the reality of what is happening. Ultimately, we went to show solidarity. But we left with an even greater determination to speak out. We will not be silenced, and we will not look away. None of us should.

Watch this. Lubna Speitan, author of the Greens4Palestine motion “Zionism is racism”, spells out the central obscenity of our age – the grotesque inversion whereby the victims of ethnic cleansing, Apartheid and genocide must constantly fend off accusations from their tormentors that it is they who are the racists. “We as Palestinians are being silenced and gaslit and vilified [as we] witness the annihilation, the cold-blooded murder of our families, of our people… our children burnt with phosphorus, having to endure amputations with no anaesthetic, having their limbs torn and shredded, their bodies burnt by phosphorus, being starved to death … And to have to sit here … and try to bury my feelings so I can eloquently and diplomatically shield my anger, my rage, my anguish that every Palestinian is feeling, is an insult.” /1

Genocide is still on. Principled action - from states, companies, institutions and people - is needed to stop it. Worldwide strike- Oct 30.
100+ PORTS. WORLDWIDE. NO MORE WEAPONS. On October 30th, dockworkers, seafarers, students and communities in more than 100 ports around the world are standing together to say one thing: NO MORE WEAPONS. War doesn’t run itself. It runs on our hands loading the cargo, and on our silence when blockades are enforced. Governments and corporations that profit from it have counted on both for too long. From now on, they get neither. NO TO THE WAR MACHINERY. We take the ports. We take the streets. We shut it down. Oct 30th Action map link: gsumud.link/OCT30

HEBRON IS UNDER SIEGE. FAMILIES ARE LOSING THEIR HOMES. Since yesterday, at least 250 families have been displaced in Hebron, including my own sister, Hayat, and her seven children. Homes and shops are being demolished by the Israeli military. Around 250,000 people are trapped in the city, while 1,000 families in H2 remain in their homes. We are being collectively punished for something we neither did nor supported. Our suffering is being turned into political material for Israel’s elections, while innocent families pay the price. #Hebron #HumanRights #EndCollectivePunishment #StopForcedDisplacement #ActNow

Basic education piece: Not all Jewish people are Zionists. Lots of Zionists aren't Jews. The Board of Deputies largely self identity as Zionists. The Media often report the Board of Deputies as the opinion of Jewish people. Yet many Jewish people say #NotInOurName

Since this morning, I’ve been unable to leave my home. All checkpoints in H2 and exits from Hebron are closed. Israeli forces have begun demolishing homes and shops near the site of the attack. Residents are living in fear, cut off from basic necessities. We urgently call on the UN, international governments, and humanitarian organizations to act now: protect civilians, demand an end to unlawful demolitions and collective restrictions, and ensure safe access to essential supplies and emergency services. Hebron must not be forgotten. We need urgent action, not just statements of concern.

Jewish children must be protected from real hatred of Jews as Jews. Expanding “antisemitism” to cover political badges or criticism of Israel foreign government’s policies does the opposite: it ties Jewish identity to a state Jews have always rejected and invites backlash against them for politics they did not choose. Judaism is a faith, not a political nationality. Clear separation is the best protection.

This is important — please do the same if you’re concerned that the government is enforcing a “balanced” education on genocide. There are not “two equal sides” — there is a violent, apartheid, settler-colony committing unfathomable war crimes against the indigenous population.
🚨 PLEASE SHARE! I've written to both my children's schools following the Government's antisemitism review. I WILL NOT accept genocide being presented as a two-sided political debate, or Palestinian history and suffering being erased from their education. I've drafted a template which I'm sharing for other parents to use or adapt. Political impartiality must NEVER become historical dishonesty. Please use them. Challenge your schools.
