This marks my final week serving as Director of BCP. We’ve had in incredible run. Taking on junk fees, surveillance, subscription traps, and more, we’ve advanced the most ambitious consumer protection agenda in decades. And as I detail below in a farewell post, we’ve delivered.

A great episode—lots to chew on! I've been thinking about corporate criminal insanity defenses since I listened. And if I understood @ProfDiamantis correctly about the extant respondeat superior framework in the law, I blame (praise!) @IowaLawSchool for sparking those thoughts!
New episode: Corporate Criminal Responsibility with Mihailis Diamantis.
In this episode, we talk with @ProfDiamantis about the nature of corporations and some similarities between corporate and individual criminal responsibility.

In next week’s episode, we talk with Mihailis Diamantis about the nature of group agents, especially corporations, and how the criminal law applies to such entities. We conclude by asking whether reflection on these issues has any implications for our thinking about free will.

I enjoyed this especially well-written piece on Pike Balancing by Andrew Jordan (@atheodorej), though I do think it's hard to make sense of Pike as anything other than an anti-circumvention rule.

Today’s action provides new privacy protections for young gamers, and makes clear that COPPA covers kids’ biometric and health information. And with three COPPA actions over the last two weeks, it should be clear that @FTC is firing on all cylinders to protect children’s privacy.

Flashback to 2003:
My parents’ friends: You’re majoring in philosophy?
Me: Sure, twenty years from now the only white collar work left for humans to do will be to debate functionalism and the “hard problem” of consciousness. It’s either philosophy or plumbing. – at Washington, DC
