Actually, this is a classic anti-Zionist lie. With the rare exception of rare specific trips sponsored by religious nationalist groups, which you wouldn’t find yourself on by accident, birthright trips don’t go anywhere where they might see a checkpoint.
And if they did, I guarantee you given security concerns, they aren’t having the kids wander around checkpoints talking to soldiers manning thr checkpoint.
If you’ve ever actually seen Israeli checkpoints in the West Bank, you know that this story is completely ridiculous.

Since @ntyimes' post-Oct 7 bias has been in the news, has more evidence of said bias. The Times has had umpteen articles about far-left "antizionist" Jews. Searching its archives, it has never once talked about "October 8th Jews"--"Jewish individuals whose connection to their identity, community, and Israel intensified immediately following the October 7, 2023."
This is a well-recognized phenomenon in the Jewish community, and I personally know several October 8th Jews who had previously been entirely unconnected to Jewish life and Israel.

And while everyone who comes under the law of return is Jewish in some way, to suggest that the Russian, Polish, Indian, Yemenite, Moroccan, Iranian, German, South African, Iraqi, Kurdish, Ethiopian etc etc Jews who make up Israeli's population were one ethnically, racially, and culturally homogenous group is to show a profound ignorance.
Also, 1) 10 million people is the entire population of Israel. Nobody's talking about letting in 335 million people here overnight. 2) Other countries aren't America. They're built on a different basis. Hungarians or Israelis or whoever are allowed to pursue different policies than ours. 3) Israel's very specific situation is that it is the *only* Jewish nation, it's surrounded by neighbors that have purged their entire Jewish populations, & by polities that vow & chant for the destruction of its existing state & people.

I have a vague feeling it might have been the massacre of Oct. 7 emanating from what was a de facto Palestinian state, and the fact that the massacre received the overwhelming support of Palestinians in the West Bank, and the public opposition of virtually none.
Israel now fully controls 92% of Israel-Palestine.
While Prime Minister Netanyahu had previously negotiated based on the possibility of some type of future Palestinian state, this government now claims all the land of Israel-Palestine and is aggressively implementing a comprehensive, systematic plan to realize its vision of a Greater Israel.
The surprising part is how close they have already come.
