Have you heard of compassion fatigue? #Midwives, pay attention. @ProfMarySteen of University of Northumbria says that compassion fatigue in midwifery is REAL. We’re breathing through ours off today in Uluwatu 3, in the Midwives Matter Self Care workshop. #ICM2023 #MidwivesInBali

🚨In the first trial of its kind at the Wirral Women and Children’s Hospital, mothers will have direct access to an employment lawyer who can give them advice on everything from access to benefits, maternity pay and how to deal with unfair or unsafe working conditions.
Another pioneering initiative from @Improvingme1 supporting women and families throughout their perinatal journey @tamboyce

Wow! In Scotland, pregnancy resulted in fewer women vaccinated (32 vs 77%). >90% of admissions In unvaccinated. 104 women admitted to critical care, 102 unvaccinated. Baby deaths only in unvaccinated: 4 times higher than background. Get vaccinated! nature.com/articles/s41591-0…

I was fortunate enough to chair the TSC of the GOT-IT trial (GTN and retained placenta) that Fiona lead. It was executed with aplomb. Fiona made it a pleasure. journals.plos.org › article › jo...Nitroglycerin for treatment of retained placenta: A randomised, placebo ...
Fiona was one of our very dear, kind, brilliant colleagues. Taken too soon. And to the detriment of so many others. Please do not underestimate this disease. When someone like Fiona dies, it illustrates the impact of these deaths, that cannot be overstated. A devastating loss.

So true
The first rule of leadership: put your mission above your ego. The second rule of leadership: if you don't care about your people, they won't care about your mission. The third rule of leadership: if someone has to tell you the first two rules, you're not ready to lead yet.

If you are privileged to be offered a vaccination, take it. Millions round the world are not so fortunate. The protests witnessed yesterday are appalling, +I bet lots who attended are vaccinated! As for the ex nurse inciting hatred in London.Despicable & abhorrent. #gotyourbackNHS

The implications of routine induction for non white women at 39 weeks has not been thought through. This will remove the option of birth centre or homebirth fort most, increase the chance of other interventions and decrease overall positive experience #NotSoNice @NICEComms

Sad to hear Murray Enkin has died at the age of 97. He was leading force in evidence based childbirth. I still have my 1989 version of Chalmers, Enkin; Keirse (1989). Effective Care in Pregnancy and Childbirth. He was an early supporter of midwifery as a profession. RIP 🙏🏽💗
