Today ends the 9th week of the semester. These have been the longest, most stressful nine weeks of my career in HE as faculty. What’s happened? I started serving as chair. This job is relentless…but I don’t think I’ve ever made such positive impact on my colleagues & students!
Of course, Gary and Mac enjoyed their time with their dog and human friends at the kennel. Gary’s experience got captured by day care staff. Mac hasn’t been awake much since he got home.
Just returned from family vacation with my in-laws. We had an amazing time in Missoula, MT with a beautiful day at Glacier National Park traveling Going to the Sun Road among other adventures. I’ve never felt so overwhelmed by the beauty of nature.
Earlier tonight I started reading this book, only to realize I already read it earlier in the spring. Anyway…
This is a great book for those who experience mental illness or neurodiversity. Interesting read that draws attention to the issues of 1960s mental health care.
So….Week 2’s book was almost 400 pages and took a few weeks. I also read these other two books during that time. Highly recommend this to anyone in a leadership role in their organization or others who serve as a mentor to a group.
One degree paid off……
February began the payments for my Ph.D. Loans. Sooooo…..just a slightly lower payment for ten more years. The education was worth it! Grateful for programs like this that allow people, esp. first gen students like me, to finance their dreams!
Incredibly grateful for the Public Loan Forgiveness Program! Logged in to pay my student loans this month & I had the official paperwork indicating the ten years of payments for my undergrad had came to an end! 10yrs of teaching in public schools/institutions. Time flies. 😳
This summer I’m trying to read > 1 book/wk. Goal is to read a fun book &/or a work-related book each week. For fun (and to hold me accountable) I plan to share the books here. Reclaiming my fav hobby 1 year post PhD!
Book 1: Highly recommend to chronically ill folks, esp women!
