Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up. 33 years ago I predicted I would do something so cool my 1st X Wife Roseanne would be forced to say something almost nice about me. Hell finally froze over today.

Massive concession: Los Angeles election officials just told a federal court they have no independent way to verify citizenship beyond what voters attest. (They simply take their word for it.) Under federal law, only citizens may vote in federal elections. Yet California has not acted on the list of 20,000 suspected noncitizens or agreed to set aside their ballots. American citizens’ votes are being diluted in California.

It’s one of the worst things to happen to Christianity, culturally speaking, in modern times. And despite reports to the contrary, it really hasn’t gotten any better. Most “faith based” entertainment is bland and flavorless and, worst of all, a display of artistic cowardice. It refuses to take any chances or do anything that might be even remotely upsetting to the audience or even vaguely ambiguous about the message it’s trying to send. The result is an endless catalogue of “Christian” films and shows that are lifeless, pointless, and boring to an almost infuriating degree. What makes this so tragic is that it wasn’t always this way. Christian artists in all mediums for centuries created brilliant, beautiful, inspiring, timeless, sometimes difficult and complicated works of art. But the modern day Dostoevsky or Flannery O Connor or even Michelangelo, if such a person exists, would never get a film made by a Christian studio because their stories would be too upsetting to the middle aged Christian female audience that all of these companies exclusively cater to.

Fjord is a sobering master stroke of a film by Cristian Mungiu about the horrors of a developed secular society run by short haired progressive women. Successfully gives the viewer a migraine for 2 and a half hours, watching government try to extinguish the place of family.
A defining piece of filmmaking for the 2020s.

Amanda calls this out seconds later. Watching her grapple with her responsibility as a storyteller was fascinating. Watching her interract with the real life cost of her work, & then proceed to portray her again, an example of our compulsion for stories, no matter their cost.

Abdul El-Sayed wrote about the harms of Arab women dating White men in college.
Zohran Mamdani wrote about his frustrations that white women were "impossible to talk to" because of his skin.
Radical politics springing out of dating frustrations?

These days, when I see someone say this, I just feel bad for them. Too many young people have been propagandized into preferring pedantic lectures and political sermons over the sublime experience of being turned inside out by truly transcendent art, music, and Literature.

This is all so obvious and, frankly, it’s boring and insulting to have to argue with the Noah Smith’s and the Yglesias’s of the world about whether this is what will happen under multiculturalism. Of course it’s what will happen. Here’s a video of it happening.

WOAH 🚨 Dearborn, Michigan mayor Abdullah Hammoud is at a mosque making a speech calling for Muslims to organize to make sure the entire city leadership is Muslim
“That only happens if we go out and we vote. If the Muslim community votes, if the Arab community votes, we will determine every single position in the whole city”
We were warned Muslims would use mosques as voter mobilization centers to take over our government. There is no clearer example of this happening than this video
I would like to just point out that you are politicians aren’t allowed to give campaign speeches like this inside places or worship
It’s called the Johnson Amendment. It prohibits tax-exempt 501c3 organizations including churches, mosques, synagogues and other houses of worship from “participating in, or intervening in any political campaign on behalf any candidate for public office
- Organizations cannot endorse or oppose candidates
- They cannot host or facilitate campaign speeches, rallies, or events where a candidate asks for votes
This is EXACTLY what’s happening in this video
Violations for this leads to loss of tax-exempt status. This mosque should lose their tax exempt status

Possible Love is extraordinary; deserves all the praise for its novelistic qualities and thematic unfurling, but it shouldn’t be taken for granted how rich Lee Chang-dong’s craft and cinematic ideas are. He is a master of the form

The only person standing in the way of a DSA takeover of LA is Karen Bass. I’ve never voted for her, & have criticized her plenty. But preventing LA from getting worse matters. Whatever my disagreements with Bass, she still recognizes the practical realities of governing.

Why is it that people 𝒏𝒐𝒕 on the far left can get down with escapist hobbies, subcultures, events, and activities? It’s like people on the left are so miserable because they’re constantly hyperfocused on being angry and political 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒂𝒎𝒏 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆. No wonder mental health is horrendous these days.

Explicitly political art can never be deeper than the politics it is expressing and most people’s politics are incredibly shallow and motivated by a selfish desire to feel purposeful. Seeing a person indirectly confess their bias is not scary. “The centre cannot hold” is scary.
