A horrific Russian strike in the Kharkiv region. A “shahed” struck people directly – in a park near an ordinary café. Pure atrocity. Six people were killed, including children. A little girl was killed in a stroller – her name was Angelina, she was just over a year old, born in August 2025… Her mother’s name was Inna. She died in the hospital… Another girl who was killed was 11 years old. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Another 14 people were injured, including six more children.
I am grateful to everyone who supports Ukraine under these circumstances and helps us shoot down “shaheds,” shoot down missiles, and stop Russian assaults. These are horrific photos, but behind them are shattered lives and the truth about this war. Lives must be protected. Ukraine needs air defense. You can't think about making money with Russia as long as it continues its asinine war. We ask that sanctions on Russia stay in place as long as the killings continue. We ask America to be strong, and we ask it to apply the Lindsey Graham law. We ask Europe to continue its support. We ask that everything possible be done to bring peace and guarantee security. Ukraine wants peace. It is Russia that has insisted on continuing the killing all this time. The world has enough strength to stop the war. That strength must finally be used – against the murderers.

The audacity of this man, giving his shares away to children for free. How's the state going to collect taxes if it's free? How does this solve world hunger, save the whales, provide access to low-cost medicine in Africa and protect a person's rights to identify as a chair? Shame

🇺🇦 Zelenskyy delivers a blunt message to the United States:
“Just give us Starlink back. If you refuse, Ukraine will survive. We will continue defending ourselves with or without it.
But why would you restrict a country fighting for its survival? Why make it harder for us to defend our people?
I simply cannot understand the reasoning behind this decision. It is a mistake.”
Ukraine isn’t asking America to fight its war. It’s asking America not to stand in the way of its defense.

I’ve spent a few days thinking about the Tesla Roadster reveal and landed somewhere I haven’t seen much discussion. I’m neither a Tesla fanboy nor a Tesla hater. And I couldn’t care less whether what we saw technically qualifies as a flying car. Three takeaways: (1) The risk of that live demonstration going horribly wrong was real. Almost no CEO would willingly expose their company to that kind of public humiliation for a product with so little financial upside. Elon did. (2) That willingness to attempt the seemingly impossible is what makes Tesla special. It’s also arguably Elon’s greatest contribution to America. He’s helped bring back something we’ve lost. The American spirit of chasing big scary ideas that most people think are impossible. That mindset is spreading across a new generation of founders and its long term impact on America’s future could dwarf anything Tesla ever sells. I think this is deeply underappreciated. (3) Can we just acknowledge how insanely cool that moment was? We’ve reached a strange place culturally where even extraordinary feats of human ingenuity immediately become arguments about why they don’t count. Not everything needs to be a debate. Sometimes we should just be able to stand back together and marvel at what humans are capable of. I’ve been both bullish and critical of Tesla’s ambitions over the years. But watching Elon and his team push the boundaries of what’s possible reminds me why I’m glad we have him. Whether the Roadster ever makes Tesla a dollar or impacts $TSLA stock price is almost beside the point. We need more people willing to risk failure in pursuit of things the rest of us think are impossible. Because when they succeed we all win.
Good idea.
Demonstrating a @Tesla with FSD to an elderly neighbor. She’s a perfect candidate: rich, lives alone, no longer drives at night due to poor vision. FSD would change her life.
She would write a check for one today EXCEPT the text on the screen is too damned small. Even with the display adjusted to large print.
Tesla, you’ve got 100 square inches to play with. Create an optional “old fogey” UI with minimum 48-point type.
Remember, as @tom_peters says… women over 50 have All The Money and control all the car purchases. And they mostly wear bifocals.

“At a time when Donald Trump’s party is struggling to hold both houses of Congress and his own approval ratings are cratering to historic lows, the President has been campaigning hard all week against . . . Volodymyr Zelensky,” Susan B. Glasser writes. “Yes, Trump’s October preëlection surprise is that he’s finally decided to begin openly helping Vladimir Putin in Russia’s war of conquest against Ukraine.”
“Trump has pivoted to Putin so many times before that it should hardly astonish anyone that he did it again,” Glasser continues. “But these crises that Trump provokes with such regularity always manage to reveal something new, and this one has been no exception, showing a President so politically cornered by the consequences of his war in the Middle East that he turned to Putin to help him out with less than three weeks to go before the midterm elections.” Read her latest column: newyorkermag.visitlink.me/y7…

You found it. 🍌
The banana at the Next Gen Roadster reveal wasn't an accident. It was an analog stopwatch.
A laser triggered the drop the instant the tires started to roll. We hung it at exactly the car's 0-60 time at the time of 1 second.
Banana hits the ground. Car hits the laser wall. Same frame.
Here's how we did it 🧵

It’s the French equivalent of Harrods in London or Bergdorf Goodman in NYC
Good question.
On October 16, 2019, I told Donald Trump, “With you, Mr. President, all roads lead to Putin.”
On October 16, 2026, Trump signed an executive order waiving new sanctions on Russia passed by bipartisan majorities in Congress and signed into law just last month.
This decision insults America’s commitment to democracy and our brave men and women in uniform, as Russia helps Iran target American forces.
I join Republican senators in condemning this unconscionable capitulation to a Russian dictator who illegally invaded Ukraine and butchers innocent civilians.
As I have asked for years: What does Putin have on Trump that he would sell out America’s values?

Socialism has been tested in France for 45 years.
It does not work.
Don't let it take root in the USA. Resist.
The survival of the Western world depends on it.
I could write a book about why we left France 12 years ago. We had a fairy tale life: beautiful home in Mougins, kids in English school, my career thriving.
We gave it all up to start over.
The French have been “moutonisés” 🐑— effectively silenced and increasingly addicted to small government handouts.
You get paid to study, to live in your home, to have children, to raise children as a single parent, to send them back to school after summer, to help once a child turns 20, to be unemployed, to extend benefits after two years on unemployment, to take a break, to have income, to top up your salary, to have a nanny, to have a helper at home… and on and on. (A non-exhaustive list in comment)
And what happens when the subsidies can’t keep up with inflation?
When dreams die under bureaucracy?
When someone lights the match because there aren’t enough handouts?
This is reality in France today. Don't let it come to America.

The new XPRIZE on Interspecies Communication, with a $10M purse will launch next month.
It will challenge teams to demonstrate ethical, verified two-way communication with wild animals, advancing coexistence and cooperation.
Dr. Irene Pepperberg spoke to us today about her pioneering work with grey parrots, training them in English to perform many tasks at 6-year old human skill level.
“Clearly, animals know more than we think and think a great deal more than we know.”
It wasn’t easy when she started. The feedback to her first grant review: “what are you smoking?”
And now, her parrots ask questions and learn from the answers. They ask for what they want.
She has taught her parrots 100 English labels for objects and materials, exact quantities up to 8 (and addition and subtraction), colors, shapes, materials, concepts like same/different, absence, a zero-like concept (absence of a set, on his own, with no training), relative size comparisons, optical illusions, and they make new word combinations (calling the banana chip “banacker” for a banana cracker). They have a visual working memory (tracking moving cups) that beats adults with 4 swaps. They do inference by exclusion (when you show where food is not located, they figure out where it is).
Bird brains look very different at first, a smooth unfolded organ with no cerebral cortex, but further research found a relatively large cortical area similar to non-human primates in relative size and connectivity. They have a dense processor, doing same thing as human children.
“Bird brain should be a complement,” she concluded.
We can imagine the marvel of first contact, whether alien or AI, and it starts with communication.
We can practice with the isolated animal intelligences all around us. We hosted a gathering for the leadership of the Earth Species Project, with an ambitious plan to do just that, using multimodal AI models.
“Everything that can be translated will be, by 2030.”— @Aza Raskin of ESP, and:
“It’s impossible without scale and inevitable with scale.” (of data and compute)
“We will face the unusual situation where our AI will communicate with animals before we understand what they are saying.”
“Human languages have evolved over a couple hundred thousand years. Whale and dolphin language has evolved over 34 million years. And some are multilingual, using a third language when hunting together off the coast of Norway.”
“Beluga whales announce themselves with their unique name and clan ID. Parrots teach each of their chicks their name in the nest—a lifelong signature that connects them to their family and community.”
“And there are different cultures. The is a fascinating community of crows in Spain that operate unlike other crows. They raise their young as a group, like a kibbutz. They have a unique dialect for collaborative parenting. When an outside crow joins the group, it learns the dialect and participates in the unique culture. The crows have different personalities and there is a lot of drama. There is one adult that none of the other mothers like. She has to zip in and out quickly to feed the young before being chased off by the others.”
“Humpback whale songs go viral. There is group of whales off Australia that are like the K-pop singers. Their songs propagate globally over a couple years."
"An orca once wore a salmon hat, and it became a fashion trend among orcas.”
“80% of animal communication is relatively quiet one-to-one communication, and we need to capture that. It’s a perception problem. Of the animal recordings made, only 3% of the data have been analyzed. There has been little progress in orca communications in the past 20 years.”
“Many indigenous myths start with communication with the animals and nature. And then we forget how. We became disconnected.”
