DASH::package v8.1.0 is full of utility VOPs and efforts to sustain the “in the zone” flow state while using the toolset, dealing with Data Types, Channels, Indices, Logic, and some retroactive completion. Release: github.com/probiner/DASH/rel… 🎶: VCTRE:"Shells" @sidefx #Houdini

Despite all array ops support in DASH::package, using a For Loop VOP is still needed for custom logic routines. So a last minute addition for the upcoming release is a tool to simplify that step. Sets up variables' names and types; getters and setters. @sidefx #Houdini #nodes

DASH::package v7.1.0 continues the effort to promote ease of use of arrays in Houdini VOPs, providing several utilities to generate, modify, compose and compare them. Also included are some multidimensional data calculations. Release: github.com/probiner/DASH/rel… @sidefx #Houdini

Why am I interested in having DASH nodes support array operations as much as possible? Here, for example, from pcfind's collected near point ids, I could source their attributes and do calculations on them without needing an explicit for loop VOP. @sidefx #Houdini

Replying to @Probiner @sidefx
"I don't always do particle simulations but when I do, it's to test DASH vop nodes in a sop solver and get subpar @mxsage looking results" :)

DASH::package v6.1.0 is a comprehensive release focusing on geometry VOPs. Continues the effort to support array operations (avoiding loops), comfy quick menus, and exploring alternative approaches. Release: github.com/probiner/DASH/rel… @sidefx #houdini Music: "Rebirth" - Phole

Inspired by @SketchpunkLabs, I gave a calculation approach to some bend constrains a try. Yet for the 2nd one I still fallback to sampling from a cooked geometry, as I solved these before. Will figure it out. linkedin.com/posts/p-sousa_m…

Alright, sorted the second one out algorithmically. asinc() not use but sinc() used to get the bend range size from the point's angle.

🔴Today at 9:30PM (GMT), on Think Procedural discord, I'll do a brief demo of DASH::package ideas and features, followed up by a clarification session. If you fancy Houdini VOPS: Get the package: github.com/probiner/DASH and join in: discord.com/invite/723NGrShd… See you there!

DASH::package returns with is an extensive rollout of fixes and new nodes that demonstrate composed applications of Dot and Cross Product operations: Linear Algebra, geometric relationships, rotation matrices. github.com/probiner/DASH/rel… Music: "Divine Intervention" - Supernatural

Calculating 2D cone-box intersection just based on geometric properties (box point positions, cone point position, radius and fov) was more challenging than I expected. Unless I'm missing some really obvious and easy method. Suffered in #houdini

This goal had several brain twisting side quests. In one of the attempts, I wanted to have a fold on the geometry in one direction, but have the limit of it be in another direction.

Totally not worth to watch it till the end😅#houdini

Who can give me a use case for the dot product, that does NOT rely on normalizing either of the vectors (divide by length) ? I have two examples in mind but they're not the common introductory ones for the dot product.
