I tried writing a video script about the OGL debacle but it was literally too depressing, so I scrapped it.
Hasbro is going to get what it wants. None of this other shit matters to them. They're going to convert D&D into a digital loot-box game, it will make them a lot of money.

Hey, folks. "Gypsy" is a slur. If you're not Romani, it doesn't matter how cool you think the word is and how much you wanna use it. If it's justified in the narrative (eg, your character uses racial slurs and it's clear they're ignorant and/or a bigot), ok. But otherwise ...
This is honestly true for anyone that makes their living playing #DnD.
I’m fortunate enough not to have received any directly but I have definitely seen Some Takes pretty ignorant of the fact I can’t uproot my life and career on some corporation’s whim.

Reminder also that a lot of folks of minority have their livelihood tied to #WotC/#DnD/#DndBeyond.
As a source of income
As a source of safety
As a source of accessibility
People who are #LGBTQIA/#BIPOC/#Disabled/#Neurodivergent.
They cannot pivot as easily as you.
Have grace

After 9 years of weirdos insisting WotC was going to “get woke, go broke,” the thing that’s actually hurting them is, yknow, being super capitalist
This is...very, very yikes.
At the same time, though, I'm not certain I understand all the shock and outrage. WotC is a corp, it's always been a corp, a corp cares about a single thing – profit.
Corporations are not people and they are DEFINITELY not friends.
Huge leak from an insider @Wizards
It's what we feared: the higher ups despise us, the D&D community, and see us only as an "obstacle to their money".
Subs on D&D Beyond are all WotC care about, so I've cancelled mine. Let your voice be heard #opendnd #StopTheSub
Oh, hey, don't think I mentioned – a new episode of Monster of the Week is live!
Our take on the drider, the most infamous pun in #DnD, is only one click away!
Honestly, #Dungeon23 seems rad but I am wise enough not to commit to YET ANOTHER project that I know I won't finish.
Then again.
Could make a cool YT series, though...

@ProDMTimothy got me this sick candle from @CantripCandles ! It smells like ancient ruins (in all the good ways) and had a d20 at the bottom. I GOT A CRIT. Y'ALL. 🥹
ughhhhhh
it is so hard to tweet right now – especially about #DnD
First, it was billionaire shenanigans. Now, it's the OGL horseshit. I'm really hoping the public pressure is enough to actually affect change. Leave it to Wizards to bite the hand that feeds them

Open Letter about the OGL, signed by numerous D&D designers, including several who have worked for Wizards of the Coast. opendnd.games/

Quick story. When DDB was first acquired by WotC, I had a conversation with someone on the WotC side. They told me that DDB was only successful because of the D&D logo and not the work we had put into it for 5 years. It’s a culture of arrogance.

Crazy to watch how companies will stumble into success on accident and then later down the road will forget why/how.
Gaming industry tried to do this with their modders
WoTC is gonna learn a hard lesson about how much of their brand dominance exists ONLY because of the OGL.
